Disney partners with oil industry to make pipelines fun ["target children"]

The Ohio Oil and Gas Association is targeting elementary school students with a pro-industry science program

Elementary school classrooms in Ohio are being treated to a super special, game show-like day presentation, brought to them by Radio Disney and funded by the state Oil and Gas Association.

All of the activities are aimed at teaching kids about science — the science, that is “behind oil and gas production and their value as natural resources.” The Wooster Daily Record describes how the program, “Rocking in Ohio,” combined science and fun (and industry interests) at the Wayne County fairgrounds this fall:

[Radio Disney host] Jag introduced sub-topics — for example, drilling and production — shouted out some information about them and then put together teams for related games, at one point declaring “I need to create some really smart teams,” and at another juncture, cautioning, “This is a really physical game.”

One of the challenges was “literally creating our own pipeline,” Jag said, using balls and tubing to demonstrate “how we get oil and gas to your home.”

As contestants shot balls through the “pipeline” to end up in colored pails at the other end, Jag encouraged the audience, “Cheer these guys on like crazy.”

“It sounded almost too good to be true,” said Harbar Elementary School principal Cheryl Cook of the program. And yet it wasn’t: the Ohio Oil and Gas Energy Education Program (OOGEEP), a nonprofit education and public service organization funded by the oil and gas industry, brought it to the school’s third- through fifth-graders free of charge.

If the pilot’s judged to have been successful, “Rocking in Ohio” will be rolled out across the state in 2014. And judging by how amped up it got these kids about fossil fuels at the Ohio State Fair, that seems likely to be the case:

Gracious!! We can't have our youth learning about the value and production of natural resources!! Yikes!!

Seems the public schools are targeting school children with a pro-gay message:

..........."On December 4, 2013 Randi Weingarten, president of the 1.5-million member American Federation of Teachers (AFT), spoke on C-Span about bullying, particularly of gay students. Ms. Weingarten said, with surprise in her voice, that she doesn't understand why gay students are still bullied in public schools, because in 2013, "It's cool to be gay." She also said she is gay, and now speaks about it openly.

As a psychotherapist, I tell clients that being surprised by another person's behavior often results from erroneous assumptions about the person, usually because you see them as you want them to be rather than as they are. As Ms. Weingarten talked about the love that not only dares speak its name but never shuts its yap, I imagined how it would sound if a heterosexual male schoolteacher said, "The way I do sex is cool."........... If this kind of thing is allowed to go on, children are going to want to go into useless fields like engineering, field exploration and production, or petrochemistry instead of value-creating areas like gender transition counseling or Obamacare navigation.

And this is a bad thing because....why?

Actually the youths will have a great deal to UNLEARN first. And this can be highly traumatic to those instructors who were trying to instill exactly the OPPOSITE notion in the little skulls full of mush.

It is about time our side countered the lies kids are being taught.

I sure hope they balance this positive pro-growth, pro-science message to these tykes with a curriculum that teaches the evils of fossil fuels, why we should all live in caves, eat treebark and grass, never travel beyond 25 miles of our place of birth, feel guilty for using too much of the earth’s bounty, and how the poor widdle polar bears have had all their ice melted by the evil white Judeo-Christian patriarchy.
