Netflix recommendations needed.

Posted on 12/18/2013 7:18:35 PM PST by Mountain Mary

Looking for some new mysteries to watch on Netflix or Amazon...preferably Brit, Swede, Danish or otherwise European(better actors)..but could be American if they are decent like Breaking Bad. I posted a request a while ago and many of you great Freeper friends responded with good suggestions. It turned out to be a fun thread.,,,a necessary distraction at this stressful time of year...from all things Obama, libs, Dems, progressives and dysfunctional families?

I confess that I haven’t watched it, but some people like this one:

I don’t know if they have justified, but I’m a big fan. Some people like arrested development

Are you looking for heist and other odd job films or investigator (conspiracy/murder/suspense) films?

Does the perspective matter?

Have you seen the Sherlock Holmes reboot with “Khan” Cumberbatch?

Very cool.

I don’t have much positive to say about British T.V., but they do really nail those small-town crime dramas. I watched ‘Midsummer Murders’ during travels there.

I also found a hilarious British comedy series called ‘Peep Show’ on Netflix recently. Not family-friendly, but unbelievably funny.

If you have some basic cable channels like fx or AMC, or premiums like stars, hbo, showtime, you can stream their series for no charge. Go to their web sites. This means you can watch shows not currently running or series which are discontinued.

If you like the Brit stuff, “Hetty Wainthropp Investigates” is fun, too. Plus you get to see Meriadoc Brandybuck before he was Meriadoc Brandybuck.

Why go to Netflix for a good mystery when you can tune in to MSNBC and listen to the latest explanation for why the ACA is a good thing. You will get a good mystery and comedy at the same time. :)

Ahh, thanks. I loved Felicity Kendal in the Good Life, although I understand she’s “difficult at times”. Thanks for the warning.

Sounds like you’d like ‘Lilyhammer’.
“A New York mobster goes into hiding in rural Lillehammer in Norway after testifying against his former associates. “

A ‘fish out of water’ comedy crime series. Or something like that.

House of Cards is that Kevin Spacey show.

Arrested Development was great. (Three seasons)
Of course it didn’t last.
