Any GA Freepers...What Can You Tell Me About Candidates Running for Chambliss' Seat
Vanity | November 15th, 2013 | Vanity

I am looking at the people running to replace Saxby Chambliss in 2014. Can anyone from GA tell me anything about Broun and Gingrey? Are there others running? I live in Kingston's district, so I know some about him, although we just moved here in 2011. Looking to support the candidate with the best conservative credentials so we don't get another democrat-lite senator. We need to improve our conservative odds this time around. Is there a GA "family values organization" that puts out the voting records of the people who are already in the House, as they do pre-election in FL, VA, and other sates?

TOPICS: Politics

I like Broun. I think he is the Tea Party favorite as well.

I am not from GA, but I like Broun. In fact gave him some money early on in his run for US House.

Dr. Paul Broun is the guy we need. He is a hair on fire conservative. He will stand shoulder to shoulder with Ted Cruz, Mike Lee and Rand Paul. I cannot wait to vote for him.

There are a lot of Georgia Freepers that swear by him. A couple or three do not. Personally, as I have said before, I don’t want some old Georgia GOB (good ole boy) fart. I want a young buck with a wife and family of small children that cares more about them than he does twisted DC perversion they all seem to get.

My former Congressman, Tom Graves (before I got redistricted) is one such person. I think he’s done well.

I’d vote for him for Senator over Broun in a heartbeat.

Hey, we must be neighbors - are you in the 9th, Doug Collins, now?

I am in Talking Rock. My new Congressman is Collins. I really liked Graves. He’s a straight up soldier in my book.

I am in “Cummingville” on 53, between Gainesville, Dawsonville, and Cumming.
I liked Graves too.
Been having my doubts about Collins, since he voted for Boehner for Speaker.

I’m just up North Main Street from Jasper in Arbor Hills.

I’m not gonna jump in the Collins bandwagon until I hear him speak or can talk to him. I’m done with GOB RINOs, and no one has convinced me he is really otherwise.

I prefer Broun, although I wish he were younger. I will support him for one term at which time we will need a new TEA Party person to step forward.

I like Gingrey, but I think he's been there too long.

The one candidate we do not need - and likewise the one candidate that the State GOP is guaranteed to give all their support - is Jack Kingston. Elect him, and we're stuck with another Johnny Isakson for the next six years.

Dins a copy of your local newspaper. Look for candidate events (the local news is very good about covering them). Attend and listen.

I like Broun. The truth is that as long as Carter or Nunn is NOT elected I will be happy. If Broun is elected I will be very happy

Collins is my guy. Heck we might be neighbor lol. Graves is great too.

We do have some good reps in Ga. Two suckful senators though.

We have a handful of really good guys to go for Senate - and the right environment to elect them.

Go North Hall Trojans tonight!

Wow. We up here in the north woods are not too far apart.

Just south of the Pickens county line off of Old Fincher.

Yes, I agree. He is not strong on anything. He’s my Congressman, but he is no firebrand. I heard that Graves had refused to run. Is that so, or was that early on, and he’s changed his mind?

Gingrey and Broun have both been in the House for a while. While that may be okay, I agree that we need someone “hungry” for conservative values and a return to Constitutional government, and not so entangled in the DC crowd that they are compromised, or could be bought off.

Thanks to all.

I am not in GA, Sherry, but I follow every Senate race.

Despite how many fans he has on FR, Broun is an elderly Ron Paulish type with the highest potential BY FAR of blowing the the race and losing to Sam Nunn’s daughter, Daisy Duck. It’s a race if he’s the nominee. Let’s not make it a race.

Gingrey is underwhelming and even older than Broun and Kingston is establishment. So by process of elimination I would favor Karen Handel, the only other major candidate in the race, whom I thought should have been Governor instead of Deal. Gingery would be my second choice.

The filing deadline is in March, other candidates could still enter.

Like you, Handel is my top choice and Gingrey my second choice. And I agree that Broun is the one Republican who could lose the election. If Broun wins the nomination , The Lying Nunn will blanket the Atlanta metro area with ads in which she’ll use Broun’s own words to depict him as a knuckle-dragging, mouth-breathing creationist.

That was my estimation, but Georgia Freepers seem to think Georgia is so red, they’ll elect Broun whatever. (As an aside, I do think the media is overrated Michelle Nunn. She’s an amateur with a name that meant something 50 years ago)

As has been said, Kingston is a disaster. Total Boehner acolyte. Gingrey meanwhile seems to tack right when it’s in his interest to do so. He has however pledged to retire after one term if Obamacare is not repealed.
