TMZ reports that during a deposition for a lawsuit against a magazine, Cruise claims he works harder than the US military or Olympic athletes. Asked if he accepted the assertion of his team that his work making movies is as difficult as fighting overseas, the actor responded:
That's what it feels like... it was brutal, it was brutal.
Later in the deposition, Cruise compared himself to an Olympic sprinter.
Gold Star Widow Jane Horton, whose husband Sniper SPC Christopher Horton was KIA in Afghanistan on September 9, 2011, told TruthRevolt:
The closestf Tom Cruise has ever gotten to fighting in Afghanistan is trying to dodge the paparazzi. How dare he compare his lush lifestyle and cush acting career to fighting valiently for freedom and putting your life on the line to defend your country.
I am sure fellow Gold Star families, veterans and most Americans will strongly agree with her thoughts.

Dodging real bullets in a real battlefield environment hardly compares to dodging CGI graphics in front of a green screen.
In related news, Obama says he is the most informed president in history. [Even though, he seems to be the last person to know what is going on in his own administration].

Tom Cruise is insane. Period. And that was a stupid thing to say.
But honestly, a lot of guys come back from ‘combat’ with this story, “This is no sh*t, there I was... sitting in the air conditioned TOC, eating pog bait, reading a book... All of a sudden, the commander comes in pissed that somebody forgot to sign off on a leave form for PVT Sucky! Hell broke loose that day, I can tell you.”
Yes, a lot of guys do bust their butts, get shot at, and blown up, but most don’t.
And don’t even get me started on the Air Force... Oh, hell. Why not?
One of our neighbors was sent to an AF base in Kuwait and they *loved* it. Said it was like a hotel. They had a friggin’ POOL. He called his wife every week talking about the awesome food at the chow hall, how his tan was fantastic, spent three hours a day at the gym... Meanwhile my hubby was sitting in a trailer surrounded by wire, and sleeping in an airplane hanger with 50 other (farting) guys.
So yeah, compared to *some* deployed people, TC definitely works harder and has more physical demands.
Shouldn’t have said it, though. Nope. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

Pretending to be tall requires enormous effort: stretching, preening, dental work, mirrors, lifts in shoes, camera angles, digital enhancement, computer-aided design, and
COSTARS STANDING IN HOLES.

While that may be true, I don’t think Tommy Boy was comparing himself to some REMF. My son was a Cav Scout over there. At the FOB life was pretty good. On 3 day patrols, not so much.

I also have a buddy blown up in a HMMWV (Hummer). Now he has all kinds of health problems. He did not have a stunt double for that scene.

Your post reminds me of the pic of the wooden blocks Humphrey Bogart had attached to the bottom of his shoes so that he could look Ingrid Bergman in the eyes in Casablanca.

Yeah I think they can yell “cut or timeout” in Hollywood, don’t think you can do that in Afghanistan.

Taken out of context by TMZ in a divorce deposition. Cruise’s reply to the lawyer was actually near opposite of what’e alleged in the headline.
Not to say he’s not loony, just that this isn’t true to their allegation if you read the court transcript.
