In order for the government to take it over as a single payer system. It’s that simple.

So they can "graciously" offer us a Plan B: A Federal Single Payer System.
Total Central Control of all health care. Free for all non-taxpayers. Must be better than 0-care, right?

It's a "fundamental transformation" of America into a perpetual state of "FAIL".

Have you observed the economic model for Venezuela? This administration's model is far more disfunctional. We are just seeing the beginning of the collapse.

Why is there no paper application?

Oh, comrade, there IS a paper application.

Unfortunately, some Obamadrone has to enter the information from the paper form, into the website!

If Single Payer is the endgame, doesn’t it stand to reason fhey have already been secretly working on that? A hundred million dollars disappeared a month ago...... I bet they are working hard on a single payer IT system....... In the shadows that is.

But, but Michael Medved says this line of thinking is beyond contemplation and as wacko as Pearl Harbor and 911 conspiracy theories. It is impossible that a sitting administration would ever do anything that would intentionally make them look this bad no matter the outcome. End of discussion. That’s what he’s been spouting - can he be that ignorant? or just laying down cover? I mean there’s no evidence in the 20th century or previous history of conspiracy? It is merely a deception or a ploy. The one I love the most touted in the past by some of the biggest right wing talk show host is there is no such thing as conspiracy because if there were it would be provable and then it wouldn’t be a conspiracy.

Nah, I’m sorry, but that’s a tad silly even for a Liberal. It takes shooting ones self in the foot to the extreme. You don’t make yourself the laughing stock of the entire nation (and possibly the world) just to try and punish another in a way that will be hard to explain later.

I’d also add that while yes, single payer is the desire, its chances are being destroyed by this debacle. Most Dems wouldn’t vote for it before, good luck now. And while we are likely on the verge of a death spiral, the InsCos got protection in the form of a mandatory bailout if it happens written into the law - the companies won’t be going away. Plus Medicaid not being force expanded means no single payer can easily be forced even if Dems were willing to say 2 years from now after half the people lose insurance that “its too expensive for everyone and we want to take all insurance away and give everyone medicaid” - they would literally be in risk of being strung up at their state capitols as next to no one would want to go along with it this fast

At this point we will prob see a death spiral, millions lose insurance, the mandates on what is covered dropped to allow people to get catastrophic and most other services go into a true free-market situation like Lasik, Lapband, etc are now.

This F*up this fast is the last thing they wanted, I imagine, because the law was already unpopular and in risk of destructive changes which might help it go away. Now that many of yhe lesser legs will be tossed in the courts and others will have to change to make constituents happy, its even worse for its chances. Dems are in a horrific situation right now. If they don’t make parts of it go away then they will go away in the elections and the entire bill be be in bigger risk.

It’s designed to fail. Those who will enroll have a strong reason for putting up with the hassle... pre-existing conditions or no other way to get coverage. The healthy don’t have this incentive and certainly don’t want increased premiums. What happens when healthy people fail to enroll and you only get hard-to-insure customers you can’t refuse? You get a negative risk pool for the insurance companies and America fundamentally transforms its healthcare model.

I have a different take, to get all the retirees money back into the system out of savings. a insurance failure would cause cash and savings to be used to pay the medical bills.

The initial failure of healthcare.gov was entirely predictable, and requires no dark partisan musings to explain. The federal government has a multi-decade track record of doing an absolutely terrible job supervising large scale information technology projects. My guess is healthcare.gov will be "working" to spec within a few months, and if so that will be remarkable success. Legendary IT screw ups, including the FBI data system, the Joint Strike Fighter code base, the Navy IT system, etc., have meant years of delays and hundreds of millions of dollars of wasted expenditures.

There's a good reason why the computer systems that truly cannot be permitted to fail, like those of the IRS, the FAA, etc., were built up slowly over decades and have never attempted anything like a rapid or complete turnover, and rely more upon the steady hand of SES heads of IT and GS-14 and -15 senior programmers who have been at it since they were GS-7 mainframe operators in the 1980s, than $1500-suited MBA at consulting firms supervising 26-year-old programmers who aren't good enough to get jobs at Google or Facebook.
