CARTOON: Liberty Haze

According to Gallup 58% of us are in favor of the legalization of marijuana. With poll numbers like these, our Washington masters will certainly be moved to grant us bread and circuses. Here's a novel idea, let's legalize liberty, return to a limited Constitutional government and learn what it feels like to really breathe free. Even the huddled mass of pot-heads should be able to get their minds around such a simple concept.

I guess I’m a moderate. I think it should remain illegal, but don’t like a federal war on drugs, which always suffers from Mission Creep. It is primarily a states’ issue, except at the border. However, I don’t want it public, and I don’t want the legitimacy that full legalization would give it.

In other words, “I want an authoritarian Nanny-State to hover over myself and countrymen and decide which things I can consume because I am too stupid to make decisions for myself”. Doctor heal thyself.

I got enough problems dodging drivers with cell phones...now I got to dodge potheads too? Drunk driving is illegal, so we forget that and all go get high then take a drive? We live in a wonderful time...we can do ANYTHING we want, everything is OK...except keeping your own health care plan. I’m really losing my pride for my country.

Sounds like the author wants to legalize Liberty, but just the parts he likes, while continuing to deny liberty for others.

I wonder if he was at a bar getting sh*t faced when he thought of such brilliant nanny state hypocrisy.

How about addressing what I said instead of making things up? The U.S. of the 1950s (illegal weed, no national war on drugs per se) was hardly an authoritarian nanny-state.

Hi Da,

My drawing is only intended to make an observation on the current state of liberty in America. For this second tier liberty to upstage the outright assault from the left on fundamental liberties seems a bit absurd. I don’t think the Federal government should have the authority to make any plant legal or illegal for voting age citizens to possess. I do admit to poking a little fun at pot worshiping stoners. You may now return to your drum circle.

You have been sharing the road with pot smokers all your life. You just won't admit it. Just this morning there was news about a huge new drug tunnel in CA going to Mexico.

Coloradans chose to make it legal because the cure (WOD) is far worse than the disease. Prisoners in maximum security cells test positive for all kinds of illegal drugs.

When it is impossible to keep pot out of maximum security prisons keeping it out of the hands of the people is impossible.

But drug laws make control freaks feel good.

I’m one of those crazy, Bible and gun-clinging people who feels that I should be the one to decide what I ingest instead of the Nanny State.

"I’m really losing my pride for my country."

The Money Show with Stuart Varney today (Oct 31) was simply amazing at illustrating how low Obama has taken our country and the job he has done in giving our young people a sense of hopelessness.

Just six years ago youngsters were singing the oath to Obama in classrooms across the land and they have been taught that he is their guiding light for life. Those youngsters are now nearing voting age and the ones that were getting driver's licenses when he became the darling of the media are now in their 20's and in many cases dreaming of no more future than one of dependency on a menu of government programs to feed, clothe and medicate them.

On the positive side it would take a huge industry AWAY from organized crime.
