Mitch McConnell for Pres. 2016 and General of Counter-Terrorism for VP.
I thought you would be interested in this story I found on news.msn.com: US ambassador summoned by Germany over NSA spying ( http://news.msn.com/world/us-ambassador-summoned-by-germany-over-nsa-spying#tscptme, )
Wait a second? Didnt Snowden first go to China? Where China and their reverse-technology, was granted the rights to reproduce the Grundig SW radio? I hear people in American jails, know how to increase the band-with of small transistor radios. What could China do with a Grundig or cell phone, like the Samsung knock-off.
Now didnt Germany discredit our secrets, as found in the German newspaper?
As for France, just how long were they (like Australia in Afghanistan) going to provide there battalions, in the Syrian civil strife? Long enough to see the US weaponry as a Socialist Country? Then pull-out and leave us to boots on the ground?
Now: what about Switzerland and that $2,800.00 a month? Doesnt that story sound familiar, as in the US $10 Million dollar theory?
What happened to our spy-plane brought down by China? If France and Germany are really worried about spying? Wouldnt we infiltrate the Belgian Arms Race? I think they have enough to worry about, with the Saab software in Fighter Jets? Comprendee-Vous?
No. One Global Problem? Malnutrition.
Exactly!
I’m always curious about the biographies of famous people, so I try to learn as much as I can as the occasions arise. I always like Harry Morgan, and was tickled pink when he got the role of Potter...especially after he had done the earlier role of a whack-job General in charge of a court martial.
“But first, do a number.” “A ‘number,’ Sir?” “Yes, a number...you know, ‘the sun goes down, the tide goes out...’” and he begins a little jig and heads out the door of the tent, thereby, nullifying the court martial proceedings by his unfitness.
No one but Morgan could have pulled off both roles!
I read quite a few actors’ biographies or memoirs, but I’ve never seen his on the library shelf, I guess.
It’s typical for actors to appear in a guest-star role before being cast as a principal. That general (Bartford Hamilton Steele ... 3 Es, not all in a row.) was a great part.
Hey! I used that line, once!...
Maybe in my cups...
I saw his several years ago on the History Channel, when they did a weekly Biography cameo to get people interested in the new channel. It doesn’t come with my chosen program listing, and I’m really, REALLY very close to getting rid of cable TV (Al Jazeera has a lot to do with it) and just going with Netflix.
You might be able to find it on Netflix...
We used to watch Biography when we had cable. Might be on tape or DVD in the Union Library, too.
Any time I see a biography listed on the history channel or PBS, I will watch it, with very few exceptions. I read a lot of bios, too. Some of them are extremely revealing.
Especially to one who knows any psychology.
Many famous actors were pretty darn nuts.
Dear me. I hope that the offspring learn in a very timely manner what good things come to an end when you displease the trash gods!
I read the biography of Lana Turner’s daughter not to long ago and was almost shocked by what she revealed. But then, common sense kicked in and I realized, based on what she had previously written, she could not have been lying.
There was also some experience behind the realization of the veracity of her statements, so I came away thinking, “Hollywood should be re-named Hollow Wood, because that’s how most of the people are and have been.”
Thank you. I feel better somehow!
uh oh
The light switch in the kids room turned on the closet light and the closet light switch did nothing.
I think I need to call Pinky & the Brain about this.
In my house, for a bedroom, the first light switch from the door, controls the overhead light.
The second switch from the door controls the overhead fan.
And the third light switch, if there is one, controls either sconce lights or the top of a receptacle so that a table lamp can come on.
It works that way in my house because that’s the way I did it.
but why would a switch that is the source of power for both lights but only supposed to be the switch for one, become the switch for the other?
OMG really, my relatives that own the Teamsters Union in New York are as well. Was in Sicily two summers ago.
I could use some Sicilian Teamsters to whip Bill and Tom into shape. Bill is on the sofa this morning; apparently he lost some sort of dispute long after I went to bed.
DP says they’ll have to haul the trash to an appropriate collection site in the car, if they can’t get the city to pick it up today.
Let Bada Bing and Bada Boom handle it.
“Epic Fail and his brother Inert.”
Possibly because they are wired incorrectly. A ceiling light can have its power routed through the light switch, or the light switch "leg" can just be extended from the location of the light. Such choices are normally obvious before the wall surfaces cover up the wires, but they are deducible afterwards by someone who is familiar with the choices.
It may be that the closet light is run off power obtained only after the ceiling light switch has been turned on. That's not the right way to do it.
In your situation, you can remove the light switch cover, and with a flashlight, check to see how many wires are routed through the box. If it is a light switch "leg" as it should be, there will be two wires to connect to the switch, plus a ground connection. Any more wires than that, and you've got power routed through the box. In the latter case, you're short a bit of wire to get it right.
I spent half a day replacing a switch leg because it was aluminum with a cover of copper. That kind of wire isn't allowed anymore. The aluminum gets brittle and can cause a fire. That's not your problem, but replacing a wire after the wall surfaces are in place can be a bit tedious.
