HEARD:
96. Case No. 7329 on the accused ORLOV Alexandr Vassilievich, born 1883 MO (Moscow Oblast) Malino District, Khonyatino township, priest. In 1932 convicted by the troika of PP OGPU MO on article 58/10 and II Criminal Code to 3 years. Served the term in Correctioinal-Labor Camp. Accused in conducting C/R (counter-revolutionary) agitation against the Soviet power and VKP/b/ (All-Russia Communist Party /Bolsheviks/), agitated [illegible] for bringing children to church.
RESOLUTION:
ORLOV Alexandr Vassilievich to be EXECUTED BY FIRING SQUAD.

By 1937 the historical Orthodox Church in Russia only existed in emigration, while Stalin created a collaborationist docile church that was allowed to operate in a few remaining church buildings and cater to mostly old women. That allowed the Soviets to say that there was freedom of religion in the USSR, — the point insisted upon by the Roosevelt administration as they propped Stalin’s regime with American industrial might.

annalex, thanks for posting this in so intelligible a form. Primary documents are always to be preferred. Their impact for the thinking person is always greater than secondary sources. You are right, this is all that is left of this man ... in this world. And therein lies the victory for the Christian.
Under Yeltsin the NKVD archives were opened and provident people made scans while they could. The access is much harder today. This, however, is probably what the relatives got upon request.

May we, first, know. The evil of the Soviet system is rarely talked about now that the Cold War is over. Before that, perhaps understandably, it was evil because it was the adversary, not because it simply was evil. Recall how there were gasps of incomprehension when Reagan called the Soviet Union for what it was?
But it was evil. This scrap of officialese is evil. Let us learn.
I spent a short time in an eastern European country and in Russia in the mid 1990s, just a few years after the iron curtain fell. There is absolutely no question that those countries had been enslaved under the darkest of evil . You could see it and feel it.
And now that darkness is taking over our country.
Not in the same way though. The core, the flower of the Russian nation sacrificed themselves because they could see a foreign element of the international force of destruction -- some of it motivated by lofty ideals -- destroying the Russian people. I don't think the conservative movement today in America is similarly cognizant of the foreign ideological invasion that succeeded in subjugating the American nation. Just like the Obama Reds have learned from the Russian Reds, the American patriots should learn from the Russian Whites.

I recently attended St. Sylvia’s in Tivoli NY. The church has not been wreckovated other than the risen Christ (statue) has replaced the crucifix over the main altar.
This is on topic becuase Dorothy Day attended mass here and there is a pocket of communism in the town.
