Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) says global warming poses "a far more serious problem than al Qaeda" and accuses energy companies of being willing to "destroy the planet" for profits.
In an interview with Playboy magazine, Sanders targets coal and oil companies who he says have outsized influence over lawmakers on Capitol Hill.
Big business is willing to destroy the planet for short-term profits, Sanders said.
And because of their power over the political process, you hear a deafening silence in the U.S. Congress and in other bodies around the world about the severity of the problem. Global warming is a far more serious problem than Al Qaeda, he said.
The comment arrives in a broader economic critique of what Sanders, the Senate's most left-leaning member, calls a hypercapitalist society plagued by huge inequalities in wealth and political power.
Sanders alleges the Republican Party has become extremist but also criticizes Democrats. A tidbit from the interview:
Let me tell you a story outside of school. I go to the Democratic caucuses every week, and every week there is a report about fund-raisingRepublicans have raised thus and thus; this is what we have done. In the six years Ive been going to those meetings, I have never heard five minutes of discussion about organizing. Its about raising money. Not five minutes to say, Look, West Virginia, we have rallies, were doing this, were doing that, were knocking on doors. In six years, I have heard no discussion about that at all.
Good point. People stay freedom-loving when they have wide-open spaces and minimal intrusion.
As if AHA won’t destroy the economy, let’s tax the last cent out of the American Public to “save the Third World Tirants”! WTF! Coso diavolo?! CW, help me!
Native Americans are among chief victims of Big Greens war on coal

Did anyone catch Kook to Kook AM yesterday?
They had a guest Climatologist who gave a very good explanation of sea ice and sea levels. It would have left any

Bernie Sanders far more serious than global warming. No joke, he is.
Arrest the stupid #.
And unicorns too - he mustn't forget the unicorn problem...
You know, I actually kind of like Bernie Sanders. He’s a moron, but he’s an honest moron. He comes right out and says what he believes, unlike most of the socialists who try to slip it in under the radar.
