The toddler wore a pink hoodie with pink pants that ended atop a pair of purple-splotched Dora the Explorer sneakers.
Her brown eyes sparkled, especially when she managed an occasional smile between broods for a cell phone, bracelet and small book.
Behavior patterns placed her months shy of those terrible twos.
Expecting mother, grandmother and child attended a Diocese of Trenton Justice for Immigrants: a Journey of Hope Mass Friday where Bishop David M. OConnell delivered an plea for religious intervention regarding millions of undocumented residents awaiting U.S. immigration reform.
OConnell explained that Catholic involvement in immigration issues originate from spirituality.
Its not a partisan issue. Not Democrat or Republican, the Bishop stressed.
His homily noted that Catholic entry into immigration discussions stem from a reflection of gospel and Catholic teachings.
Scripture provided a conduit for Bishop OConnells expressions as a Gospel reading from the book of Matthew (25:31-46) underscored our responsibility to offer comfort to strangers.
Fair and just immigration reform connects with a spiritual teaching that implores us to love our neighbors as ourselves.
If these United States fail to rescue millions of undocumented residents or languish in those efforts, then we should accept the reality that our behavior imprisons people who need our help.
Our nation cannot be a land that is unashamedly accustomed to the suffering of others, that their needs do not concern us and is none of our business, OConnell said.

They come here and convert...to Islam.
What happened to their “separation of church and state” they always bludgeoned Falwell and Robertson with?
I have too have been reading Islam is trying to convert Mexicans to their Islam religion.
I haven’t been to Mass in years.
If the bishops are so pro-illegal, let them require each Catholic church to start paying real estate taxes to help pay for all the welfare and EBT cards.
This is known as sedition in most circles.
The Church is bleeding Catholics like an artery has been severed and these Bishops are prying open the cut.
Just this morning we were told at my Church that our Priest was leaving and a Priest from the nearby Parish would have to serve as Pastor of both Parish’s.
Not enough Priests to go around. I did the October count and I can tell you there aren’t enough Parisioner’s to go around either. 75% of the people there were over 60.
Hey Bishop, it’s time to wise up! The majority of American citizens are all for legal immigration to this country. What we’re against are those who come here illegally and pick our pockets for welfare, education, medical care, and criminal activities. Maybe its time to get off the pulpit, stop being educated by the NY Slimes, and start paying time to your hard working parishioners who are supporting all your illegal friends. Catholics who sit in the pews who have to listen to these rants should hold back contributions for the day.
We don’t need immigration reform. We need a new Reformation.
Parisioners = Parishioners
Other than that, I get your point.
