(TheBlaze/AP) Major problems were reported Saturday all across America with the Electronic Benefits Transfer System, as consumers were stuck with no way to pay at registers, notes WBZ-TV in Boston.
WBZ reported that a computer-system upgrade was to blame, while the Associated Press reports that a routine check by vendor Xerox Corp. resulted in a system failure.
People in Ohio, Michigan and several other states found themselves unable to use their food stamp debit cards while shoppers from Maine to Oklahoma had to abandon baskets of groceries because they couldnt access their benefits.

I see a number, finally: 17 states. Not all, of course, but hardly something to minimize. If you aren’t aware, you’re dead. All the gun in the world won’t help you.
@jrsalzman: “Wtf? #EBT is down? I’m poor and need food for my children!” - Sent from my iPhone 5.
I removed it.
read the tweets....tweeters are blamin republicans ...meanin the WHut can say glitch w/o bein finger’d
The entitlement mentality will lead to some very ugly and very predictable results.
Zero’s counting on it.
You get even more of the hilarious tweets if you leave out the hash tag. Just ebt.
How sad. Every single one of those people could have, one week, put away some peanut butter, crackers, beans, rice, etc for such emergencies. Even candy bars. Also, they could go buy meat on sale if they had a freezer. Boxes of cereal and almond milk. There are a lot of ways to save for a bad week.
Twitter posts I’m seeing (and I’m not a Twitterer, typically) seem to be running ANTI-Ebt card. Most of the comments are mocking the Ebt users.
It was 8 or 9 states and was reported on another thread. Some people were angry but no violence. They were told it would be corrected soon and, according to the place, some were able to get their food without their card or cash. The company running it in those particular states, let the stores do that.
It appears, therefore, as I said to Travis, extrapolating into the future, the first day there may not be riots, but when it isn’t fixed by day two, don’t dare go to a store of any kind, because it will be dangerous to be out in the open. The “not haves” will want whatever you have on you.
Bring ‘em on. The revolution has to start sometime.
I saw that article too, notice they say “at least 17 states.”
I saw one persons tweet from WA where their ebt card worked.
Good question...it’s gone from my newsfeed as well.
I see a lot of those too. I only go on twitter when something is up, like this. I love how some of the trending issues are anti Obama, and how many people just see through the guy.
‘This week on Iron Chef...’
Got it. Thanks.

It affected us here in Pennsylvania too. The store kept going on and on the PA system about it.
I saw a terrific bumper sticker on the back of some tradesman's van a week or so ago-
"Your 'fair share'
IS NOT IN MY WALLET".
It was every state served by the Xerox program. It went down. It was eight or nine states. Some are back up.
Not sure how these are connected but the states I have seen are Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Ohio, Michigan, Maine, Oklahoma, Virginia, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania.
