[I've clipped the entire piece leading up to his conclusion, where you will note he takes Sen. Ted Cruz to the woodshed for not compromising and looking for the middle ground - but the fact is Texans took Cruz to the U.S. Senate because he stood for what we want and he's following through on his word to the voters.. So you can decide what to do about reading the rest of his blither.]

.......One thing that now appears incontestable is that GOP Texas Sen. Ted Cruz has damaged his party badly in the short term, making the GOP look extreme, confused, unreasonable and unappealing. If you have been a regular reader of this column, that shouldnt surprise you.
In June 2012, leading up to the Texas GOP Senate primary between Cruz and Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, I wrote about my interviews with both candidates:
The difference between the two men is simple: Cruz is not willing to compromise even if it means being irrelevant to the legislative process, while Dewhurst is willing to look for middle ground.
Indeed, given his worldview and personal style, Id expect Cruz to become a significant voice for conservative purists who believe their party has been too willing to give up on principle.
If elected, Cruz certainly will join the GOPs Uncompromising Caucus, which includes DeMint, Lee, Rand Paul (R-Ky.) and a handful of others, making it more difficult for his partys leadership and for the Senate to deal with the nations problems.
That assessment of Cruz has been borne out by recent events. Well need to wait at least a few more months to see whether he has done enough to make Pelosi speaker once again.
Actually, Ted Cruz has managed to expose the GOP elites for the democrat-lites that they are. I’m at puke already with these elites.
It was said by Alan Dershowitz.
Ted Cruz Ping!
If you want on/off this ping list, please let me know.
Please beware, this is a high-volume ping list!
Outstanding post. You do Free Republic proud.
In that case the author is a blithering idiot who doesn’t even know who is actually in the Senate.
Not willing to compromise and that’s making it more difficult for the “Republican leadership” to sell out Conservatives and America to the socialist. I really wish some of my Mississippi Congressmen or Senators were part of the group that’s causing problems for the “leadership”.
Translation: Cruz is a principled conservative while Dewhurst is a spineless weasel that wants to get along with the beltway crowd.
Same thing they did to Reagan in 1976 on.
It was worse. They hated him for taking on Ford in 1976 and blamed him for the loss to Carter when it’s was Ford’s fecklessness that lost.
1980 proved them wrong on Reagan again (yes, they fought him hard - GHW Bush was their candidate) when he won a landslide against Carter.
And the GOPe never learned that lesson as 2012 proved. Obama was twice as bad as Carter in 1980 but they give us Ford again in Romney who was a spineless moderate that cared more about getting along and the process more than the results.
Every time they have gone to the middle ground they have ceded more to the left. They “compromise” and give up more of our rights and liberties to the left who are losing nothing, only not gaining as much as they want but know they will get more next time. How many of these Republicans use the term “Conservative” while running for election but may well be democrats who know they can’t get elected as a democrat. We really need to get rid of Senator Cochran in Mississippi, I can’t even recall him speaking to the Senate or taking a strong Conservative stand on anything in the last ten years. He’s up to 55% Conservative voting now but that’s probably because he’s up for re-election next year and I did get my first letter from him last month. Senator Wicker has now fallen to 41% with mCain, but of course he got re-elected on his “Conservative” credentials last year, just ask him he’ll tell you he’s Conservative or at least that’s what his literature says.
I will NOT vote for cochran again. I hope he has a primary challenger and I can assure you that no one that I know will support Vichy thad again! wicker is such a disappointment but I am hoping our Solid Gold Conservative Congressman Palazzo will primary wicker in 2016!
I can’t believe Stu Rothenberg vomited this crap. This is a Democrat press release.
Palazzo isn’t as gold as you think. His voting record earned him an 84%, which is a “moderate.” He is also facing two potential challengers, including State Sen. Chris McDaniel, whom is considered a Tea Party activist.

No, I have followed his voting record closely. He is gold. He was penalized for not voting for the first Hurricane Sandy bail out which had billions of dollars for leftist graft built into it. He voted for the clean bill. He also has been with us and Cruz every step of the way. He will vote against any bill that has obvious pork in it and that is why he has that rating. He is 1000% better than gene taylor. I wish we had a House full of guys like Palazzo.
Well, Gene Taylor was a bonafide fraud. If only Larkin Smith hadn’t been such a small-plane enthusiast, they’d have never been stuck with Taylor for so long. Still, Palazzo’s voting record is subpar for that district. We need to be electing people as unapologetically pledged to shrinking government dramatically as possible.
Cruz is standing his ground on conservative values and is detested by the left because of it. And of course, also detested by McLame, whom I wish would be recalled by the voters of Arizona.
Cruz actually has core values, and stands on principle.
The rest, including Johnny M are all about looking good, and face time.
What a disappointment McCain has become after getting to run for president. In retrospect we are seeing how far we have fallen to even
have had someone like him nominated.
Yes, I voted for him, as better choice than O, but now realize what he really is.
Go Cruz in 2016
the fact is Texans took Cruz to the U.S. Senate because he stood for what we want and hes following through on his word to the voters.
Theres a reason Texas is called the “ Lone Star State” and Ted Cruz
certainly shines through as a “ lone star”
May his light shine the way to a better USA
I agree about Larkin and he was a great guy. Don’t be too hard on Palazzo... he has my confidence and I can assure you that is one thing that is hard to get. I have dealt with him one on one and he has just been stellar as of late. wicker and cochran are two posers that need top be retired. Have a great day pal.
