The Decline of America: The Banning of Dodgeball, Tag, and even Cartwheels

Every day it seems that our country becomes increasingly insane and the further deterioration of our country becomes move evident. Nowhere is this trend more prevalent than it is in our schools. Over the last several decades, many physical activities have been banned at schools with dodgeball being the big baddie that had to be put down. Now comes news that at the Weber Middle School in Port Washington, Long Island, have banned footballs, baseballs, games of rough tag, and even cartwheels without the supervision of a coach or an adult.

Yes, the wussification of America continues its relentless pace. The reason for such bans? The usual complaints that children could be hurt. Port Washington Schools Superintendent Kathleen Maloney said, " Some of these injuries can unintentionally become very serious, so we want to make sure our children have fun, but are also protected." Students were not happy with the news as could be expected.

The real reasons for the banning of activities is twofold. First is the threat of lawsuits. We all know that if a child so much as gets a scrape on their knee, some sleazy trial lawyer will appear and the sue-happy parents will seek to soak the taxpayers. I can honestly understand the fact that school boards need to be aware of this and seek to limit their liability in such matters. However, it is also indescribably sad that the first reaction of most people today in any kind of accident is, "who do I sue?" I had some scrapes as a child and my parents never even considered the possibility of suing anybody. Their reaction was to tell me not to do ever again whatever got me messed up in the first place.

The second reason why games like tag or even kickball (I heard of a school requiring kickball players to wear helmets!) is the progressive liberal ideology. Individual responsibility goes out the window. We as a collective whole are responsible for the well-being of everyone else. By extension, this means that we cannot do dangerous (in their twisted opinion) activities as by courting injury ourselves, we injure the collective whole. Progressive liberals also want to stamp out competition. Keeping score or proving one person may be better than someone else is at odds with their philosophy of equal results for all. No matter how much you work at something, your ambition, or your natural skill set, the results should always be equal for everybody with no losers or winners. This unnatural act actually results in everybody being a loser, but we already know that as conservatives because we're actually sane.

The Big Nanny types want to remove all risk from childhood and wrap every child in bubble-wrap with a full complement of knee pads, elbow pads, and helmets. What they ignore is the fact that people LEARN from mistakes. As a very young boy (around 4), I learned fire is hot when I stuck my toe into a campfire. I burned my toe (not severely), but guess what? I learned a healthy respect for fire and the stove top. I honestly feel bad for children of today as they have no freedom to play in a rough-and-tumble manner. My elementary school actually had see-saws and swings with hard seats that you could jump out of when swinging really high. In the mornings before school, we used to play King of the Hill on a mound next to the school and many was the time I pushed a kid down the hill and many times I was the one getting rolled down the hill. The point is that not only did we have fun and get to work off our excess energy (funny how many kids are on medication today due to ADHD and other such stuff - couldn't be because they can't play or run around?), but we were forced to accept the consequences of our actions. Thus we were better equipped to deal with the real world when we grew up. Today's children are ill-equipped for the adult world and recent trends confirm this. We're not raising rugged individuals anymore, we're raising sheep.

Will they still let me throw a wrench?

All during a child obesity epidemic. At least give them video games where you can run just by holding a button down, that way we can raise our next generation of mass shooters.

Liberals are the ones doing this to our kids, then they wonder why they are all couch potatoes. Liberals can’t think more than one step at a time (and it’s a mental disease!).

LOL!

Saw a segment about this on my local news last night.....that superintendent referred to a “recent rash of injuries” on the playground. It’s funny, I don’t remember ANY kids getting injured during recess when I was a kid.

Wow must have been a pretty laid back school. I can remember all kinds of physical trauma back in the 50s.

This is what the institutionalization of children (public schools) are all about. Take children away from the people who should love and educate them-—give them up to strangers to condition them in “formative years” (plastic minds) (with curricula embedded with Pavlovian conditioning/John Dewey) to create “group thinkers”—who will be humiliated if they are “unique” and “think outside the box”. Laughed at. Curricula forces Atheism/occultism/Satanism and to hate differences (why they “group” kids and teach “mulitculturalism”-—for conformity....to hate white Western Civ. because it is the culture which teaches individuality/freedom and eliminated slavery and sodomy as a “Good” which has remained “good” for all other cultures but orthodox Christian ones.

(Children like to be “liked” and the “same”-—they don’t like to be “different” (herd instinct) . The school (one grade with one teacher for large group) conditions them to take orders for every thing they want to do-—or be punished for self-initiation......(punished for independent thinking). It remove their self-confidence (individualism) because in large groups of same age-—they compare themselves to others-—one school rooms prevented this since ages varied so children who were slow didn’t feel so inferior—and fast learners could learn what the older kids were doing and not get bored.

Children become very fearful of what the “group” thinks of them-—they are afraid of being laughed at or ridiculed in front of peers. It hurts their self-esteem. Then when they become adults-—they are lemmings and have no initiative—it was beat out of them. They will submit to being “told” what to do ALL their lives-—since they were conditioned for 12 years to do just that.

People like Lincoln hardly stepped into a “group think” factory. He read the Bible and Classics, so he was able to actually “think” about ideas—concepts for himself-—and withstand public pressure to “think” like everyone else.

Even Mark Twain went to “school” for just a few years-—kids worked in the real world-—not in an artificial environment where they are totally controlled for 8 hours a day to destroy self-initiative-—they used to “learn” to be self assertive (one room school houses where they skipped school if the teachers were dumb/abusive/or wasted their time-—They were active thinkers-—and not trained to fear what others “think”.

Education only happens when the child desires education....it comes from within-—and all they need it access to Knowledge (which doesn’t exist in Common Core—they removed all Classical Education which includes the Bible—which is the only thing which creates Wisdom.

Wisdom is discerning Good and Evil-—(Socrates). The schools intentionally flip Good and Evil-—and blur the Truth—so children are irrational-—exactly like ALL Marxists. Truth/God/Christianity is what created the Age of Reason and the Renaissance-—ideas of Truth/Good and Evil....Justice which created the concept of Rule of Law (Higher Law (Gods) and made the USA so great. The start of Atheism/godlessness—started in groups with the French Revolution-—which led to the Postmodernists but USA was a Christian concept. We need God back into our Constitution, Truth back in the schools, since our Rights are God-Given in this country, but today our children are taught and conditioned into believing in no God-—and Rights come from the State.

The cost of education is necessarily skyrocketing.
The quality of education is plummeting.
Everything liberals get their tentacles in costs more while declining in quality.
Education liberals are more interested in social engineering, ruining the innocence and fun of childhood, poltical indoctrination, etc., than they are in providing a quality classical education.
You want to see the cost of healthcare skyrocket while the access and quality decline?

So, all that’s left is playing cops and robbers with finger guns.

Don't think it was particularly laid back.....just a normal bunch of kids playing kick ball, dodge ball, climbing on the jungle gyms, etc.
