If you consider the deadliest mass shootings in American history -- at this point, shootings with 12 or more fatalities -- you'll find the first one happens in 1949. A deranged lone gunman's "Walk of Death" in Camden, New Jersey, claimed the lives of 13 people.
The next one happened in 1966, when a lone gunman climbed the bell tower at the University of Texas and began shooting. He killed 16 people. The first half of the list of these horrible shootings, as Rachel pointed out on the show last night, took place over half a century. The second half took place over just six years, from 2007 until yesterday.

I blame the media for over doing the coverage. I have read old coverage of murders, and they would mock and put down the killers of old. Now, they get glowing puff pieces in the media and become celebrities.
And every shooter had “mental” problems almost as bad as John McCain. Were they all “controlled”? Isn’t it sad that you can come up with all kinds of crazy theories and less and less people will call you a nut? In this day and age anything is believable.
I swear, I’m about THIS close to starting my own conspiracy theory website so I can peddle survivalist supplies and gold coins. This stuff writes itself and that’s sad.

Writes itself these days, I mean... conspiracy theories used to involve a lot more leaps in logic than they do today. I’m not disparaging conspiracy theorists. ;-)
I look at the conspiracy theories that sprang up as a result of Sandy Hook. Ov the wall nutz! Alex Jones and other were coming up with stuff that made you think they were off their meds for sure.
But you know what? Them idiot ideas weren’t any goofier than the “truth” the media and gubmint officials were churning out. Until - a day later they churned out new and different versions of the “truth”.
And in the end - we still don’t know (will never know) the full details. And so when the conspiracy theorists are out there - I give them as much (dis)credibility as our MSM.

Dude, if you'd posted an interesting commentary from a spanking website that you stumbled onto by accident maybe we'd forgive you. But Maddow's blog? I think you're at least on double secret probation and should be publicly chastised by Jim Thompson at least.
It is to make a point that things are getting worse. It is highly deceptive and shady. Stats can be used to prove different things.
Interesting as well that 2007 is when the Progressives took over the House, and the Senate, as well every one of the criminal perps of these listed activities were followers of those Leftist perspectives.
Interesting to me that every Blue State has serious criminal problems, demand gun control, or have gun control, and Red States that enforce law do not.

But seriously, think about this, if every gun in the U.S. were confiscated and destroyed, the next day there would be a mass murder committed by a knife, gasoline, C4, ANFO, Semtex, VX, or wait for it,...the Oldsmobile.

And yet, still no lawsuits from sandy hook... not a one... wait there was one to get it on the web... for millions, then withdrawn.... funny how in a highly secured school with video, etc, not one would lawsuit to sue the district or the security companies or whomever... that not seem just a little odd to people who supposedly think for themselves?... oh yeah+ waiting for the final report.. then the lawsuits will flood in right...cut throat lawyers showing incredible resolve . still can’t get a report or video from sandy hook? Tick tock tick rock..
