Thanks to President Clinton, terrorists would face more return fire if they started shooting at a local Starbucks than at a military base. Even in the Fort Hood shootings it was an OFF base policewoman that shot Hasan and ended his massacre. Until lawmakers start to see the trend of shootings in gun-free zones they will never be able to see the true tragedy of these events. And that is the fact that these shootings - See more at: http://gunsnfreedom.com/after-naval-yard-shooting-its-time-to-end-1993-clinton-gun-ban-on-military-bases/#sthash.myT26yE2.dpuf

Why didn’t Bush do something about this EO when he was President?

Greatly limited ROEs and disarmed on military bases.
Perhaps we should call our troops the the Disarmed Forces.

There were no shootings on military bases.
I don’t understand why there aren’t armed guards on military bases, it’s a frigging MILITARY BASE. Why aren’t there guns?
To: pansgold
Their job involves weapons ALREADY, and we’re always told this is a NEW type of war in which there is no “front”, per se.
And so there they are —TARGETS.
And yet no way to defend us, indeed, no way even to defend THEMSELVES.
IT IS RIDICULOUS.

Running a military base without armed military to guard it makes about as much sense as opening a brothel with cutouts of women.
Do the feds still run that brothel they took over in the early 90's?

That would assume GWB disagreed with it.

Mass shootings only occur in gun-free zones.

My guess is that they don’t want every cook or clerk typist who last qualified with a rifle or pistol in basic training to get the idea they’re rangers, grunts, SF,etc.
That being said, I’m not sure why those who are practiced cannot be armed while in uniform with their duty weapon.

The security guards had guns but either couldn’t or didn’t get a chance to use them effectively. We need to start giving base security body armor if they dont already have it. The freaking EPA is better armed than military bases.

I know of a National Guard base where all the guards carry M-16s, but no bullets.

Should instead be part of the active duty check-in when you get transfered in that you will attend all required concealed carry and long gun requirements for the state the base is on. You will then be required to purchase a sidearm with funding in a new allowance catagory just like housing allowance, clothing allowance, meal rations allowance. You will be required to carry at all times on the base, not required in your govt. housing, if applicable. But post an armed guard to accessways for govt housing to protect the unarmed members and their families.

Which is exactly why Switzerland is/was a place nobody messes with. When the Germans tried to roll thru, the citizens promised to shoot every officer first. Every citizen had to prove proficciency with a rifle as their duty. Target practice every month as well if I recall correctly. Germany kept a safe distance.

Hijackings finally meant pilots got guns.
NOTICE ANY RECENT HIJACKINGS..?
The resistance to the change is because the left saw the next logical argument — “Hey, it worked for planes, so why not military bases? And then why not SOCIETY..?”
Armed pilots were the tiny leak in the dyke.
LET US SEE A GUSHING FLOOD..!
