Oh Look, Another 'Agenda Driven' Anti-Gun 'Study'

Found this via an anti-gun group which links to the Soros puppet media 'Think Progress'.

The study, by Professor Michael Siegel at Boston University and two coauthors, has been peer-reviewed and is forthcoming in the American Journal of Public Health. Siegel and his colleagues compiled data on firearm homicides from all 50 states from 1981-2010, the longest stretch of time ever studied in this fashion, and set about seeing whether they could find any relationship between changes in gun ownership and murder using guns over time.
Note the adjectives,  'two coauthors'... and 'colleagues'.... Interesting terminology, don't you think?  Let's take a look at these two individuals, shall we?
Co-authors on the study include Craig Ross of Virtual Media Resources and Charles King III of Pleiades Consulting Group.
Holy Propaganda Specialists Batman!!!!

VMR's main page says:
You apply resources that will shape opinion, influence policy, and create change.
Virtual Media Resources provides information solutions, conducts analyses, and generates the intelligence you need to frame and advance your agenda.
As partners, we tackle the issues head on. We deliver unimpeachable media research to organizations seeking to shape public policy, and to media companies and brand marketers that are blazing new trails.
So two professional media manipulators showed a researcher how to churn out a paper to push an anti-gun agenda. Now I wonder why TP left those details out?

The Boston University School of Public Health is also a regular Joyce Foundation grant recipient.  Shocking, eh?

Another blogger doing the work MSM journalists refuse to do.

I believe it is rather unusual for an academic to have two propaganda specialists as coauthors on a "research" paper.

Notice that their initial premise is *not* whether more guns increase the murder rate. It is whether more guns increase the murder rate with guns.

This is pure propaganda, because if more guns increase the murder rate with guns, but decrease the murder rate with everything else, then that is positive, not negative.

Looking only at murders with guns is like looking at a rise in the number of hospitals corresponds to a rise in the number of deaths in hospitals. Of course it does, but banning hospitals will not decrease the overall death rate.

So it probably boils down to this: “100% of firearms used in the commission of murder were firearms.”. They may be dumb but the ain’t stupid. Kind of reminds me of the background check hearings last session here in NV. One witness, (totally unbiased of course) a former fbi agent, brought all kinds of data. Which was all BS from MAIGgots. He just happened to be a consultant for them. Trying to stack the deck. Sadly, the legislature bought it and passed the bill. Thankfully the Gov. vetoed it. But it’ll be back and they’ll probably use this new “study” in their assault on freedom.

I believe this study also did NOT make a distinction for defensive firearm use that resulted in the death of the attacker.
Clearly a propaganda piece destined for the gun-grabber’s playlist.

Stocked up, armed up, and vigilant. We all have to be prepared for these socialist nutjobs.

If the mere presence of guns in the home dramatically or substantially increased the homicide rate, then many Midwestern states (like my state of Wisconsin) would have mountains of bodies stacked liked cordwood on the streets every day. Because there's a lot more guns then there are people in Wisconsin. Yet most cities and small towns in Wisconsin have homicide rates equal to areas of Europe where there are few or no guns. Only in Milwaukee is the homicide rate out of control, and that due to black and Hispanics, but mostly blacks.

Once again, you have eastern libs who desperately want to believe in the myth of the evil, anthropomorphic gun that turns peaceful people into homicidal maniacs by its mere presence. People just can't help themselves in the presence of the evil gun. Or so say the agenda-driven authors.

The report sounds like pure propaganda right from its outset.
Unfortunately , the academic professor lends an academic credibility and will be cited in further studies, especially if not academicly challenged.
Despite the false premise , biased statistics , and jingo journalism , the conclusion of these statistics will go into other studies
which will then go into other studies , and then annotated in other studies
or what I call "The Daisey-Chain' of Fallacy ", or ,in other words convoluted logic , all of which has the stamp of approval in academia .

Statistics don't lie ,..but statistians do !

Thus the statistical lie is born but never challenged, allowed to mature ,repeated ,
repeated again and then used as a statement of 'fact' ;
that is how we have Global Warming ,OBamacare , and a 'Constitutional guest lecturer' as _Resident .

Here’s hoping that in November, 2014 the people of Nevada will defeat many of those politicians who voted for so called “universal background checks” and replace them with true patriots.

Exclude Clark county and sadly now Washoe county and that could be a possibility. LV=unions. Washoe(Reno)=to many granola heads. (possibly kalifornia transplants?) There are still plenty of conservatives/libertarians around Washoe county but maybe not enough to overcome the GH’s and the hispanic vote. Here’s hopin’.

My gun saturated little neighborhood here in E TN hasn’t hd a single homicide in the 27 years I’ve been here. Indeed, before that Terrible Boating Accident, I was one of the main saturators. All of my guns put together haven’t killed as many people, especially women, as Teddy Kennedy.

Key phrase underlined:

Although we could not determine causation, we found that states with higher rates of gun ownership had disproportionately large numbers of deaths from firearm-related homicides.

One wonders if those states also had the highest amount of Democratic-run "gun free" metropolitan areas.
