Angry at state legislation authorizing citizens to carry concealed firearms, Chicago police superintendent Garry McCarthy says he will authorize his officers to issue on-the-spot vetoes against this dangerous law.
We maintain that the police are the only ones who ought to be allowed to arm themselves, McCarthy argued. They are the only people properly trained in the use of firearms. A law encouraging people to arm and defend themselves disrespects the job the police do. It also potentially complicates every confrontation.
When police arrive at a scene where shooting has taken place how are they to know whether the person left standing is an assailant or a victim defending himself? McCarthy asked. Its a difficult question that my officers dont have the time or inclination to ask much less try to answer. Therefore, I am instructing them that when they arrive on a crime scene to not to hesitate to take down anyone wielding a gun.
In related news, Colorado House Majority Leader Dickey Lee Hullinghorst (D-Gunbarrel) contends that citizens dont need guns to protect themselves because they have the legislature to protect them. A woman should not have to carry a gun in order to feel safe on the streets. Keeping the streets safe is the legislatures job.
Hullinghorst recommended that people should put my phone number on speed dial so that if they find themselves in a dangerous situation they can quickly get a hold of me. I will immediately get to work to draft a bill that will rectify whatever predicament they find themselves in. They will also have the satisfaction of knowing that whatever remedy we come up with will be more far reaching than their concerns of the moment.

Exactly ...who is paying this guy...to cloud honest exchange on purpose?
The “real” news these days is so utterly convoluted IMO Satire has no place, does nothing but degrade honest debate.
TRUST being the most valuable commodity humans have ever invented.
“The fools stood in line...lying about why they were there........chewing the little green squares.”
yuck
If you think about this, when confronted by an armed criminal, it likely takes the police a half and hour to an hour or more to respond, if someone calls it in.
However, this can work both ways. That is, if you are confronted by an armed criminal, and proceed to ventilate said criminal, it will likely *still* be a half an hour to an hour before the police show up.
It seems to me that some entrepreneur could make a tidy sum by arriving at a crime scene faster than police, for the purpose of spiriting away the honest citizen’s handgun for thorough disposal.
“Well, you see, officer, this deceased armed individual had interfered with me, brandishing what appeared to be a gun, when some person or person unknown shot him several times. He then asked me to hold his gun to cover him as he checked to see if the deceased man was wounded or dead. I then gave him his gun back and he said I should wait here while he notified the police. But he never came back.”
“His description? Maybe sort of middle aged; of average height and weight; middling skin color possibly white, Hispanic or a lighter shade of black; kind of mumbled when speaking so I heard no accent; wearing nondescript, sort of baggy clothing.”
One of the points of satire is to point out how reality can sometimes be so absurd.
In this case, and unbeknownst to John, for those of us who LIVE in/around the Chicago area or have to commute to the murder capital of the world to earn a living, what he posted as satire has actually been said by Gary McCarthy!
Not only that, he's uttered even DUMBER things that under normal conditions one would think has to in fact be satire.
Sadly, for those of us who live here, it's not. It's not satire -- Gary McCarthy and the corrupt idiots who run Chicago (Rahm "the Godfather" Emmanuel) REALLY ARE that stupid and REALLY DO say things like that.
It'd be funny (to us) if it weren't so damn' true!
Argh! John, you snare me a lot more often than I’m comfortable with.
Not sure if you live in Chicago -- the fact is last year Gary mcCarthy and the Chicago Police issued a policy along with a PUBLIC STATEMENT that they were no longer responding "in real time" to a crime in progress unless that crime in progress "put a citizens life in jeopardy."
Don't think I have to extrapolate what the criminals in Chicago understood that to mean:
Chicago Police no longer respond "in real time" to car theft, burglary, muggings, vandalism, etc..
I think you can guess what happened to those crime rates ...
