Rank displayed would indicate a non-commissioned officer and not an “officer”, which is normally taken to mean a commissioned officer.

Yep, based on the race, sex, eyesight, rank and the ribbons, that’ll probably narrow down no more than a few.
Which came first - the picture, or the “hacking” of the Marine website? Just askin’, but is it possible the hacking was staged, to discredit the photo?

Are his awards in the proper order? I read a comment on some other forum (I was surfing, and don’t remember where) that his awards are not in the proper order. I don’t know, but I’m curious.

A friend of mine (a retired Senior Chief) said the surest sign of impending disaster in the Navy is one chief telling another chief to “Watch this s—t,” as the Ensign or Lt J.G. ignores their advice and proceeds with his “plan.”

The Chiefs I knew were the wariest, most conniving sob’s ever born. If this one wasn’t smart enough to use someone else’s ribbon plate then he deserves to burn for being stupid.
Reminds me of an experience I had while in basic infantry training. I was on some kind of company detail set up by the Captain. Somehow I also got on the KP list. I went to resolve these chores with the 1st Sgt hoping to stay on Company’s CO duty. He gave me that look only such people have. I ended up peeling potatoes and breaking eggs well into the earl morning.
