Bill Clinton blatant prevarication about voting and ID laws
WDTPRS ^ | August 28, 2013 | Fr. John Zuhlsdorf

At the Lincoln Memorial today, with Pres. Obama – The First Gay President – sitting nearby, former President – The First Black President – Bill Clinton:

“A great democracy does not make it harder to vote than to buy an assault weapon.”

ROFL!

US Federal law requires people who want to purchase a firearm, hand gun or longer-barreled, not only to show government issued photo identification, but also to undergo a background check!

Is that more demanding than what is required simply to vote? How many of you routinely undergo a criminal background check when you go to the polls?

Here is a summary of US Federal law concerning sales of firearms from HERE (p. 105):

Is there anyplace in these USA that doesn’t require a criminal background check to buy a firearm?

Clinton had to know this. You can guess his game.

“A great democracy does not make it harder to vote than to buy an assault weapon.”

Straw man argument. Something the Dems are really good at, and the "news" media love it (unless done by a Repub, then it's "avoiding the issue").

“A great democracy does not make it harder to vote than to buy an assault weapon.”

Well then make it easier to buy an assault weapon!

Sheesh.

Someone with the money needs to put up billboards with a picture of Bill Clinton with “Require a photo ID and a background check to vote” under it.

Maybe everyone should treat voting the way Bill Clinton treated voting while gov of Arkansas.

When blacks voted the way they wanted to instead of the way Clinton wanted them to, Clinton simply overturned the election.

The idea is not to make it harder to vote. The idea is to make it very difficult or impossible to vote MORE THAN ONCE or for someone else to vote instead of you.

I think Bill Clinton just advocated a poll tax....after all there's a Federal Excise tax on firearms. Does that mean the first black president is a racist?

While gov he got sued, IIRC, for just overturning an election he didn’t agree with and putting in his flunkey.

He also got sued for racial profiling while he was gov.

Didn’t like certain people coming through his state.

“A great democracy does not make it harder to vote than to buy an assault weapon.”

He probably says "it depends upon what the meaning of the word 'harder' is".

Remember this?

Voting and owning a firearm are both Constitutional rights.

Voting is candidly more dangerous than owning a gun. Certainly more have died by by political decisions than crazies with firearms.

Only logical to require the same waiting periods and background checks.

Steps and timeline for buying an “assault” rifle:

1. find one you can afford: FA M-16 going for ~$20,000 or so & FA-AK47 for ~$15,000..those inflated prices only because the government keeps the supply artificially LOW.
2. go to FA dealer and fill out 3 pg form for BATF background check
3, get a set of FINGERPRINTS
4. get passport-style photographs
5. write $200 check for the Transfer Tax

send all the above in to BATFE and WAIT 6 months for FBI background check and maybe then you can take possession of yer assault rifle, after you pay the $20,000.

FU to Clinton, obama and any other Democrat who misrepresents this on purpose for their agenda.

Slick’s statement should come as no surprise to any of us who pay attention.

After all, Slick is a LIEberal Democrat, and what LIEberal Democrats do best is LIE!

IMHO, registering to vote SHOULD be EXACTLY the same as buying a personal weapon! Picture ID, proof of identity, proof of legal residence, Federal paperwork, background check, waiting period, etc. etc.

Slick may accidentally be on to something! I wonder who will run with this idea?

Seriously, this is such a Golden opportunity it would be a shame to blow it. Just a little clarification of his remarks and we can say:
Bill Clinton wants to impose ID verification and background checks on everyone before they are allowed to vote. We just want the ID.
