CAIRO: Security officials say the son of an outspoken Muslim Brotherhood figure has been detained.

Mohamed Soltan’s family says he is a U.S. citizen and does not know his whereabouts. An active supporter of the Islamist group online, the 25-year-old had posted pictures of his arm after it was shot when security forces cleared out two Brotherhood sit-ins Aug. 14.

The Ohio State University graduate is the son of outspoken Muslim Brotherhood figure Salah Soltan. He was detained Monday along with four other men in the office of the pro-Brotherhood Rassd Network News service, according to security officials who spoke anonymously in line with regulations and released the information to The Associated Press late that same night.

Police said the group had plans to spread violence by inciting splits among the ranks of the army and police.

Both corrupt/ignorant politicians and the media have tried repeatedly to paint any who speak of the Muslim Brotherhood as “crazies”……. that is coming to an end. He relocated to Bahrain in 2007 where he was appointed as adviser to the head of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs in that country. Dr Sultan’s online CV, since removed from the Internet, indicates that he is or was a member of several important US. and European Muslim Brotherhood organizations including the European Council for Fatwa and Research (ECFR), the Fiqh Council of North America (FCNA), and the Islamic American University (IAU) closely associated with the Muslim American Society (MAS).This resume also expressed Dr. Soltan’s vision “To live happily. To die as a martyr.” Dr. Sultan is also known to be a a prominent member of the International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS) headed by Global Muslim Brotherhood leader Youssef Qaradawi.

… In February 2006, OSU-MSA hosted a week-long “Leaders of Tomorrow” conference co-sponsored by Kindhearts, an organization that was raided soon thereafter by federal law enforcement and was closed by order of the Treasury Department for financing terrorism. Other co-sponsors of the “Leaders of Tomorrow” . Other co-sponsors of the “Leaders of Tomorrow” event included:

-Kindhearts' local parent organization, Masjid Omar Ibn El-Khattab, the Ohio mosque which was home to the largest known al Qaeda cell in the U.S. since 9/11

-Ilmquest Productions (the media arm of the Al-Maghrib Institute), which publishes and markets not only DVDs and CDs of Al-Maghrib “scholars,” but also the works of such extremist speakers as Bilal Philips, Khalid Yasin, and Yemeni al Qaeda cleric Anwar Al-Aulaqi.

The president of OSU-MSA at that time was Mohamed Sultan —son of the prominent, terrorist-supporting Sheikh Salah Sultan. Three years later, in a January 2009 appearance on Egyptian television, the elder Sultan, who has been photographed at events with several Hamas leaders, would threaten the U.S. with destruction while invoking a notorious Islamic hadith about the inevitable extermination of the Jews at the hands of Muslims.link

Well, well, well… In addition to Huma Abedin returning to the United States circa 1996 and landing a job with both Hillary Clinton and the Institute of Muslim Minority Affairs (IMMA), she also joined the Muslim Students Association (MSA) Executive Board at George Washington University.

If he had been the speaker at my graduation, I would not have attended. My commencement speaker was a very famous (white) Democratic member of Congress. And I recall that the black students very deliberately stood up and turned around when he spoke, as a sign of disrespect. It was disgusting.

As disgusting a spectacle as it was, it was overshadowed in my memory by my dad sneaking up into the graduates' section with a movie camera to record the moment, and thus embarrassing me in front of my fellow grads :)

I'd gladly be embarrassed again and again if only he were still around to do it...
