The 21-year-old Virginia man who was wearing an “Obama 2008” t-shirt when he allegedly exposed himself to a female shopper inside a Walmart is facing a misdemeanor criminal charge, though that did not stop him from participating in commemorations of the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington.
Leron Issac Lee was arrested in connection with a June 11 incident at a Walmart in Dumfries, Virginia. Lee, who lives about 10 miles from the store, has been charged with indecent exposure, according to court records.
According to the Prince William County Police Department, a female victim, 21, told cops she was approached by an unknown man around 7:50 AM. “During the encounter, the man exposed himself to the victim,” cops noted in an incident report.
Since the suspect left the Walmart before officers arrived, investigators sought the public’s help in identifying the man, who was recorded by store surveillance cameras. In one of the images (seen above), he is seen wearing the “Obama 2008” t-shirt--and what appears to be green pajama pants--as he leaves the retailer.
Seen in the adjacent mug shot, Lee was subsequently identified as the Walmart suspect and arrested by police for indecent exposure.
Lee participated in a March on Washington celebration Friday that was sponsored by the National Urban League and the MLK Memorial Foundation. Wearing a “Drum Majors for Justice” t-shirt, Lee was interviewed at Washington, D.C.’s Freedom Plaza by a correspondent with WUSA.
As seen in the TV news report, Lee explained that, “The people who see us marching need to wake up and realize that we’re trying to change the world for a good cause, and hopefully this is a step in the right direction.” That cause, Lee added, is “Peace and freedom.”
Lee himself is free on his own recognizance in the indecent exposure case. He is next due in court on September 9.
