Two teenage boys are charged in the bloody beating of Delbert Belton outside a Spokane, Washington ice skating rink and investigators are now suggesting the soldier—who took a bullet in the Battle of Okinawa—tried to stop the apparent robbery.
Police say that enraged the teens and turned their petty theft into full-blown murder as they continued to beat him into submission with ‘big, heavy flashlights.’
‘Our information is that the individual fought back and that may have made this, you know, a worse situation,’ said Spokane Police Chief Frank Straub in a Monday press conference.

So, following this logic can I assume that the Spokane PD only issues sidearms to their officers to use on themselves when confronted with a dangerous situation???
Further, the Chief’s statement doesn’t pass the laugh test:
“I would like to make it very clear - the motive for this attack was robbery. Race was not a factor. Additionally, there was no gang activity regarding this incident.”
Really? The investigation is complete? All possible avenues for establishing a racial motive or gang activity as a factor have been closed down? So quickly?
That’s an obvious whitewash. Little of complexity in this life proceeds so quickly and decisively.
Have any of the alleged perpetrators every had a cross word about Caucasians? Has each of their Facebook and email accounts been reviewed to make sure, a la George Zimmerman and the DOJ? None has ever used the word “cracker?”
The Chief is by available indications a politically correct hack. The honest citizens of Spokane deserve a higher quality police department that can investigate thoroughly before jumping to conclusions, and blaming the victim.
If someone comes after you to assault you, what--you're supposed to keep your hands at your sides while they have at you? How in any way, shape, or form, does this PCpuke dare to excuse TWO subhumans repeatedly hitting a small, elderly man of ANY race with flashlights or whatever they used? And then find the stupidity, gall, you name it, to blame the VICTIM??
Straub, you are an a@@ and totally unfit for office. You wouldn't even make it as chief dogcatcher.

Citzens of Spokane, look up the “Battle Of Athens” on YouTube to see what outraged citizens have done when confronted with trash like this Police Chief.
Just think about that statement for a moment.
Had Mr. Belton and his generation had that attitude we’d all be bowing to the Emperor of Japan.
I can’t believe a defensive stance against two enraged subhumans bashing your head in with flashlights can be mistaken for fighting back.
So, apparently “fighting back” is now as bad as shooting an unarmed black teen.
I believe this is happening.
My son, a white university student, was attacked on the street by 3 unknown black males. He was severely beaten especially in the face. They did not rob him. His new phone was taken...nothing else. He thinks that was so he couldn’t call for help.
The police refused to investigate. The EMTs didn’t want to take him to the hospital. He finally insisted and they took him. He was in the hospital for a week and had to go back daily for outpatient treatment to his eyes. The doctor told him if he hadn’t come to the hospital, he would probably be blind.
So true. And worth repeating again and again.

Thank God your son survived this attack, and I pray he fully recovers and that the monsters who did that to him are brought to justice.

My empathy and condolences for the Belton family are similarly without measure.
Comment deletion and/or banning would be the minimum consequence for airing my visceral take on this 'phenomenon'.
