Hall of Fame broadcaster Vin Scully, an icon in American sports history, will return to the Dodger broadcast booth for an unprecedented 65th season in 2014, it was announced. Scully will again call all Dodger home games and road games in California and Arizona.
"I have thoroughly enjoyed the excitement of this season and there is no way I could leave this truly remarkable team and our great fans," Scully said. "With my wife Sandi's blessing, I've decided I'd like to come back and do it again next season. I love what the new ownership has brought to the team, and the energy provided by the fans, who have packed renovated Dodger Stadium. It reminds me that other than being home with my family, there is no place else I'd rather be."

Good for you, Vin
Outstanding demonstration of longevity. Plus you once had the class to risk your job by refusing to say “damn” on the air.
Tonight, my Boston Red Soxs will take on the Dodgers. Both teams are the most improved MLB teams of the year 2013, IMHO.
Welcome Back Vin!
He is the best!
But for you city-slickers, GO DODGERS!
The big trade between the Red Sox and Dodgers has benefited both teams this year. I suspect that the Red Sox will eventually get the better part of the trade as Gonzalez, Crawford, Beckett, and Punto are in their 30’s and the Red Sox got younger players.
Huge Dodgr fan here, but seldom with an opportunity to hear radio broadcasts. How does Charley Steiner compare with Vin?
That's not even fair to ask. ;)
Vin is the man. I'd tune in to hear him read the phone book.
ALRIGHTT Rack it
Vinnie is da man in SO CAL
That is awesome! I listened to Vin Scully when I was a tyke in Phoenix, Az as a child (62-71) as the Dodgers were my favorite team.
Used to listen to Dodger games covered up with blankets, so my parents could not hear, so I could listen to the games.
Shucks, I am 59 years old, he must be, whatever? Best announcer ever.
“How does Charley Steiner compare with Vin?”
Steiner and Rick Monday are great for radio. I did have to turn off the radio when they did those AFL-CIO ads a couple of years ago.
Vin is 85. Sometimes I catch him on the dish. He works without a color man and glides effortlessly between stats, stories, and the game on the field. I hope my mind is that sharp at 85.
Please ping me with any Southern California related articles. Thank you!
If you want on or off this ping list, please FReepmail me.
Best announcer I have ever heard.
Go, Dodgers! Sweep the vile Red Sox this weekend.
Love him!!
Missed the Vin Scully bobble head night : (
Growing up outside Philly and a Phils fan since birth, Harry Kalas is my alltime favorite announcer. Vin Scully is second.
65 seasons broadcasting for the Dodgers... incredible!!
Vin Scully is the Gold Standard of broadcasters... nobody calls a baseball game better than Vin, IMHO.
May Mr. Scully continue to enjoy excellent health and a long, productive life. :-)

Always great to hear Vin Scully. He’s one of the big reasons I do the MLB TV thing. He always tells some great stories.
