You know, it’s really bad when you have a SCHOOL POLICE DEPARTMENT.

The Houston ISD has their own police department.

Showed up to ref a girls volleyball match between two schools and noticed there seemed to be more than the usual number of administrators, the usual uniformed officer (they have them at games even in the small towns), and what appeared to be a couple of guys wearing sports jackets who turned out to be detectives with the school district. apparently the two teams go involved in an altercation in the parking lot after their previous match.

In football, there can be 3-5 cops that travel to away games to make sure there are not problems, mostly between fans of the schools. This way local law enforcement can deal with problems created by people from their own town.
