Sara Palin is a gifted politician. Her love of country is as clear as a winter's day.
She could be a good president, maybe even a great one, depending on circumstances. She has all the attributes of a leader: she's personally charming, down-to-earth, she's attractive, but her writing drives me crazy!
Every sentence she composes or utters in real-time is a convoluted mess of subordinate clauses. Every idea introduced gives way to a meandering aside, a parenthetical more

It’s erudition, not eruditeness.
Ok, she’s a gifted politician, loves her country, great leader blah blah blah... So can we give her a pass on the writer bit? To me, as far as my country goes, being a great writer is waayyyy down the list of outstanding traits I’m looking for in a person.
How about this...at least she writes her own stuff, from HER heart and we don’t get some assistant’s edited version that sounds just as vanilla as all politicians do, but by golly, they conjugated all their verbs.
To writers, it probably stands out and bothers them more and understandably so....
But to everyday Americans, it’s a breath of fresh air and easy to understand.
But you have every right to vent about it.... I just don’t wanther to change and sound like every other boring politician.
You are welcome, sir.
You seem to be the one guilty of writing “a self-importance piece ‘see how intelligent I am’” piece of crap writing, mainelac.
This gentleman writes much better than you post, so let’s see your newspaper links, right now.
Dollars to donuts you are an old lady who for 30 years has been writing “Letters to the Editor” to the local hometown paper, along with millions of other Americans. You seem just the type of crank who would embellish such a modest achievement in order give the impression she is a “published journalist”.
Sorry if this hits too close to home.
Every sentence she composes or utters in real-time is a convoluted mess of subordinate clauses. Every idea introduced gives way to a meandering aside, a parenthetical thought, an overwrought allegory, a call back to another argument from another day.And you also drivel...
She could be president, but never will be until she disciplines her pen and writes, thinks and speaks directly: makes concise and compelling arguments with less circumlocution and more elucidation.WoW! Never will become president until she takes your advice? BWAHAHAHAH!
...less circumlocution and more elucidation. And did you wordsmith that little morsel all by your little lonesome??
The punctuation nazis are going to ream you a new one. Justifiably so after commenting on Sarah’s writing that wasn’t any worse than yours.
You ‘correct” me with “Its erudition, not eruditeness.”
Take it up with the dictionary.

and why has my state Press Assoc. given me those awards - ‘first place’ to boot - for my writing?
Guess I've got them all fooled - but can't pull the wool over YOUR eyes, can we...
BTW, we don't give out our personal ID info on the WWW...but you know that, don't you.
That moron won't get any "hits" from me. I'm even embarrassed to be posting to this thread and thereby bumping it.
I won't be replying to this thread again.

Why do I question your professional claims? The proof is in your writing, or lack of writing skills. Normally, I don’t care about such things, but the subject of this thread concerns writing. You have made it a further concern by denigrating the skill of another member, merely because you didn’t like his opinion. So I am going to turn the table.
Please don’t give me excuses. I don’t care if you were texting with your thumbs, or in a hurry, your mistakes are egregious. In reading your posts, I have come to the conclusion you can’t spell. Furthermore, you don’t know how to use punctuation, but that doesn’t stop you from trying. Your syntax is a mess. I must also include your lack of comprehension.
You might counter, professionally, your “copy editors” take care of those things, but that would be a feeble excuse. They would have to rewrite almost everything. I won’t go into the actual content, but your opinions and insights about life don’t appear to be exceptional, or particularly provocative, but they do sound cranky.
Now, I could go on, but it is a Sunday.

It's interesting to see how some despise the success of another. That's certainly not a conservative trait.
If you have to ask... 'not able to 'get it' is enough reason.
“Go scratch. She doesn’t need your love.”
Huh?
Eruditeness is a related noun form which is rarely used. While being correct, it sounds awkward to the modern ear and is seldom used by contemporary writers. Erudition is a ‘state of being’, as well as a ‘process’, which is a much better choice. A good writer would know this.
Maine-lac, did you know that ‘erudite’ is a source for our word, ‘rude’?
