I Love Sarah Palin, But... (Link Works!)

Sara Palin is a gifted politician. Her love of country is as clear as a winter's day.

She could be a good president, maybe even a great one, depending on circumstances. She has all the attributes of a leader: she's personally charming, down-to-earth, she's attractive, but her writing drives me crazy!

Every sentence she composes or utters in real-time is a convoluted mess of subordinate clauses. Every idea introduced gives way to a meandering aside, a parenthetical more

It’s erudition, not eruditeness.

Ok, she’s a gifted politician, loves her country, great leader blah blah blah... So can we give her a pass on the writer bit? To me, as far as my country goes, being a great writer is waayyyy down the list of outstanding traits I’m looking for in a person.

How about this...at least she writes her own stuff, from HER heart and we don’t get some assistant’s edited version that sounds just as vanilla as all politicians do, but by golly, they conjugated all their verbs.

To writers, it probably stands out and bothers them more and understandably so....

But to everyday Americans, it’s a breath of fresh air and easy to understand.

But you have every right to vent about it.... I just don’t wanther to change and sound like every other boring politician.

You seem to be the one guilty of writing “a self-importance piece ‘see how intelligent I am’” piece of crap writing, mainelac.

This gentleman writes much better than you post, so let’s see your newspaper links, right now.

Dollars to donuts you are an old lady who for 30 years has been writing “Letters to the Editor” to the local hometown paper, along with millions of other Americans. You seem just the type of crank who would embellish such a modest achievement in order give the impression she is a “published journalist”.

Sorry if this hits too close to home.

What a load of crap.

Your critique is completely subjective and conceited. I very much enjoy the way Sarah writes and find nothing painful or difficult at all in the way she communicates.

Some people can’t stand a spirited sonnet by Shakespeare, let alone understand it unless it’s dumb’ed down to “See Spot run...” So does that mean Shakespeare has issues expressing him-self because some people can’t appreciate or be comfortable with it? Or perhaps it’s just too confusing of a style for most low-information juvenile voters that couldn't construct a sentence out of 2 words and who were also responsible for putting that Marxist pig in our White House. Perhaps Edgar Allen Poe’s works you also harbor issues with, or maybe Dr. Seuss and his “Green Eggs & Ham”.

I clearly followed her commentary that you’ve taken issue with and saw no "word-salad" like composition in the way she wrote it… or whenever she delivers a speech. I consider myself an average Joe when expressing myself in any literary way, but I see Sarah as just being Sarah when she writes. So what?

Now let’s take you to task.

You express yourself as if you’re trying hard to be intellectual with the following bloated nonsense...
”Every sentence she composes or utters in real-time is a convoluted mess of subordinate clauses. Every idea introduced gives way to a meandering aside, a parenthetical thought, an overwrought allegory, a call back to another argument from another day.”
And you also drivel...
”She could be president, but never will be until she disciplines her pen and writes, thinks and speaks directly: makes concise and compelling arguments with less circumlocution and more elucidation.”
WoW! Never will become president until she takes your advice? BWAHAHAHAH!
”...less circumlocution and more elucidation.”
And did you wordsmith that little morsel all by your little lonesome??

Too funny... You may think you have literary prowess at being clever, lean and articulate... but the truth is you are just masturbating in attempts to get attention.

Until you get a Journalism degree, become a Governor, campaigned, write best selling books and been through what she has been through then maybe you can check back later and be taken seriously.

The punctuation nazis are going to ream you a new one. Justifiably so after commenting on Sarah’s writing that wasn’t any worse than yours.

You ‘correct” me with “It’s erudition, not eruditeness.”

Take it up with the dictionary.

Golly gee - What have my editors been paying me for all these years?

and why has my state Press Assoc. given me those awards - ‘first place’ to boot - for my writing?

Guess I've got them all fooled - but can't pull the wool over YOUR eyes, can we...

BTW, we don't give out our personal ID info on the WWW...but you know that, don't you.

That moron won't get any "hits" from me. I'm even embarrassed to be posting to this thread and thereby bumping it.
I won't be replying to this thread again.

Why do I question your professional claims? The proof is in your writing, or lack of writing skills. Normally, I don’t care about such things, but the subject of this thread concerns writing. You have made it a further concern by denigrating the skill of another member, merely because you didn’t like his opinion. So I am going to turn the table.

Please don’t give me excuses. I don’t care if you were texting with your thumbs, or in a hurry, your mistakes are egregious. In reading your posts, I have come to the conclusion you can’t spell. Furthermore, you don’t know how to use punctuation, but that doesn’t stop you from trying. Your syntax is a mess. I must also include your lack of comprehension.

You might counter, professionally, your “copy editors” take care of those things, but that would be a feeble excuse. They would have to rewrite almost everything. I won’t go into the actual content, but your opinions and insights about life don’t appear to be exceptional, or particularly provocative, but they do sound cranky.

Now, I could go on, but it is a Sunday.

So here we have blog pimp, FF, correcting when no correction was needed. Seems showing an 'air of superiority' is his goal and it falls flat. Something that is consistent with this thread/posts; and, those that agree with him, have shown that same attitude.

Congratulations!

It's interesting to see how some despise the success of another. That's certainly not a conservative trait.

Eruditeness is a related noun form which is rarely used. While being correct, it sounds awkward to the modern ear and is seldom used by contemporary writers. Erudition is a ‘state of being’, as well as a ‘process’, which is a much better choice. A good writer would know this.

Maine-lac, did you know that ‘erudite’ is a source for our word, ‘rude’?

Palin rises above all but a handful and those few true American Conservatives stand with Palin... I stand with Palin... America needs to quit allowing elites to tell us what is and is not correct... what is or is not desirable. Our Republic was set up only to exist and thrive with a populace of Freedom and Liberty loving people that follow GOD’s laws as well as those of our great republic's Constitution. Celebrity status, a worthless piece of paper from the “correct schools” or a writing or speaking style that is acceptable to self professed elites... were never part of our Founder's plans or intent.

I disagree, the author was quite snarky in his piece, saying I like Sarah Palin at the beginning doesn't mitigate that one bit. Here's the author showing his agreement with the nastiest post on this thread. You were clearly wrong in your assessment: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/bloggers/3039724/posts?page=113#113
