Some I believe are true sign far more than others, but #17 made me laugh, but it is also so true it made me want to cry after I thought about it for a bit.

#17 According to a survey conducted by the Adelphi University Center for Health Innovation, 55 percent of Americans believe that the government will come to their rescue when disaster strikes.

I decided to avoid the last-minute rush, and go for financial disaster early. So far, so good. Squirrels are a getting a little scarce around here, though.

#1 Most employed Americans receive their incomes directly or indirectly from government debt/revenues without producing anything useful.

When disaster hits, Obama won’t interrupt his golf game to ask about it. He’ll just play through and get briefed later (or not).

Thanks for posting. This is one of THE most valuable sites on the entire Internet (found it through FReep, BTW).
I’ve learned more from Michael’s site than from anywhere else, he explains economic issues clearly and succinctly and cites his sources.

#2 27 percent of all Americans do not have even a single pennysaved up.

How do savings help in an economic collapse? Not a depression, I'm talking about an actual Thunderdome-style collapse.

But that’s what the guvmint be for, to take care of us, to teach us, nurture us, heal us, feed us and shelter us. Oh and don’t forget our phones!

99% of it is psychological. If you are content with the things that are important (i.e family) then you will survive.

Just need enough food, fluids, and safe shelter....and ammo to protect your family from the ravaging Democrat thugs.

Scary facts...the amount of folks who’ve not saved or set aside much, and depend (up to 100%) on the gov’t, is unreal.

On this topic, what do I do with all the bodies of looters that come onto my property to do me harm? Any suggestions?

When it falls, game on.

Time to get basic.

No electric. Check.
No fuel. Check.
No food. Check.
No Water. Check.

Bic lighters. Check. Tires for necklaces. Check.

Item #1 contradicts item #3.

If 75% of Americans live paycheck-to-paycheck then their effective rate of savings is zero. Then how can 46% save less than $800 because then at least that 46% is not living paycheck-to-paycheck.

The thing most people don’t think about.... a good hand pump suitable for gasoline. The guy with the ability to pump gasoline out of underground tanks will have an advantage for a while....

People who live from paycheck to paycheck have a hard time saving money, or even having enough money to live until the next paycheck. That’s why economic schemes that thrive on inflation are so inhumane and devastating to so many people. But hey, no one in Washington seems to care. The same people who can’t manage to save any money now are going to spend more money on unaffordable Obamacare. And Now Obama is going to make them pay more for energy. Of course that will mean spending more at the grocery store. Fact is, they can barely afford to work.

The underlying problem at getting people aware and motivated to take at least some minimal precautions as listed above is normalcy bias. It's a job to break them out of it but am doing my part with friends and family.

Regardless of how well we're prepared on an individual level, when the American Way is wiped out, life is going to change. No matter how much gold there is in your safe, how many years' supply of freeze dried food you have in your basement, how redundant your water purification system is, WTSHTF, your life will change. People who think the gold in their portfolio is going to keep them fat and happy when it all comes crashing down, are just as deluded as those who have no idea the storm has started. When it happens, life as we know it is over.
