On the Right, at least, the battle lines are clearly drawn between those who worship the concept of The State over the natural rights of man, and those believe that the individual has some intrinsic value. The State-worshippers will tell you that Snowden violated secrecy laws, so off with his head! Meanwhile, the other side worries about how all-powerful the State has become.
One is reminded of the White Rose resistance movement in Nazi Germany. At least seven of the valiant members of the group were executed by the Gestapo, for the horrific crime of speaking out against the government.
White Rose survivor Jurgen Wittenstein described what it was like to live in Hitlers Germany:
The governmentor rather, the partycontrolled everything: the news media, arms, police, the armed forces, the judiciary system...

The Snowden affair has manifested the distinction between the true Constitutionalist right, and statists who are pro-Israel.
Actually, Conservatism has a large number of TRADITIONALISTS and this guy betrayed them by violating his solemn oath.
That has nothing about worshipping the state, or violating secrecy laws ~ it's a betrayal of our ancestor's pledge of their lives, fortune and sacred honor.
Some of us still respect the Declaration of Independence.
You are wrong.
Snowden is not the story. The data is. Doesn’t matter what happens to him - he has played his part.
The data genie is never going back into the bottle - so all data should be made public and freely accessible over the web.
Edward Snowden, puppet of Obama.. False flag to wipe the other scandals out of the press and to divert Congress from those hearings. Also a nice distraction from the ‘Democrat voter recruitment program’ called ‘Immigration reform’.
Why?
There are no leftists in the Conservative movement, but there are among the Libertarians ~ who are NOT CONSERVATIVES!
The GOPe has hoodwinked a lot of folks into thinking that all we have are RTL and TEAParty factions ~ but that's simply not correct. You need to unhoodwink yourself.
The ‘data’ is primarily used to produce your telephone bills. Not likely it will ever be released for use by other companies ~
I reserve the right to withold that judgement for at least a year.
correct.
we have a guy who told the world that obama and his thugs were lying about spying.
On the other side we have they have been saying for years or he took secrets but do not know what secrets or he moved to Hong Kong, sorry they mention China instead.
I reserve the right to hold off until I am taken off the enemy list
ah but the elitist thugs in VA and DC want us ot attack this guy and make him the issue instead of what oabma is and was doing
What a great dilemma, exposing the true believers of both sides.
Don’t misunderstand. Prism should NEVER have been kept secret. He did us a service by making it an issue.
There are just some kind of funny things about him.
Oh I AGREE on every word.
I agree with your first paragraph.
I was referring to those who are “on the right” on foreign policy (e.g. Pro-Israel, pro-GWOT), but who take positions inimical to conservatism elsewhere (e.g. pro-amnesty, pro-Panopticon).
The last time we had a tyranny in this country the British were in charge, and they would have hanged George Washington for treason if they could have.
Now that someone has finally stood up and fired the shot heard round the world to start the war against the Obama tyranny, of course, Obama supporters want him condemned for treason, too.
If Edward Snowden is not a hero, neither is George Washington. Neither is anyone.
