You know what the IRS is really great at? Breaking its own laws. In addition to targeting conservative groups, the corrupt government agency has also been singling out disabled veterans. They do this by using banks to launder and then stealing the veterans disability checks.
Shameful.
The Veterans Disability Act of 2010 exempts VA disability from withholding of any sort. But the IRS has been stealing disabled veterans money anyways.
Kevin Lake is a 60% disabled veteran of the Iraq War. A few months ago, he noticed that his VA disability check had not been deposited, and that his bank account was in the negative. Lake contacted his bank, and was told that the IRS demanded all of the available funds be taken out of his account and wired to them. A confused Lake then called the IRS, and was placed on hold for a long time (bureaucratic government agencies tend to be efficient like that!) before he was finally able to speak with an agent. The agent claimed Lake had made $157,000 in 2010 and that he owed them money. Funny, since in 2010 Lake was still in the hospital recovering from injuries hed sustained while in Iraq he earned less than $10,000 that year.
Le After telling the IRS agent that VA disability money is 100% exempt, Lake was placed him on hold for another substantial chunk of time (surprise, surprise!) and was then told, We do not take veterans disability money. We wait until the funds are deposited from the VA and then we take all of the funds from your bank account.
Bureaucrat language for: We stole your money.
Lake was a contributing writer for key Tea Party personality Joe the Plumber. This likely played a role in Lake being targeted and stolen from by the IRS. Oh, never mind I forgot that partisanship or the perception of politics has no place in the IRS, as acting commissioner Steven Miller put it.
Give me a break.
After a lot of persistence, Lake was eventually successful in having the IRS give back the money they stole. But other disabled veterans may be victims of this disgraceful (and seemingly partisan) crime. Vets fought tirelessly for all Americans, but now they are being forced to fight for themselves.
Someone must be held accountable for this obvious, disgusting government corruption
Wonder if the IRS blood $ucker who did this got a bonus for he/she/it’s vile deed?:

WATCHDOG EXCLUSIVE! IRS doles out $92 million in employee bonuses

More than $92 million in bonuses averaging $5,500 per employee have been handed out by IRS executives to thousands of the tax agencys employees since 2009, according to data obtained by The Washington Examiner.
The average annual salary of the employees receiving at least one bonus during the four-year period between 2009 and 2012 was slightly less than $94,000, indicating that the extra tax dollars mostly went to managers and executives eligible for performance-based incentives
There have been many articles stating the government plans to take money from all of us - all of the money through retirement, etc.
Don’t have a link handy, but you could search it.
This IRS scandal must be exposed completely - our republic depends on it.

I think I read somewhere that you could protect against this by setting up a designated account, and never deposit anything except disability checks, and notifying the bank that the funds are protected from seizure.
Might be worth consulting a legal aid or lawyer type.
What is going on though is not money laundering but simple theft.
Money laundering is when illicitly gained money is cleaned of its illicit connection so that it can be deposited or otherwise enter the banking system.
Thx.
Holy moley! WOW! It has to be true and factual!
BTW, you can have as many bank accounts as you please, but the IRS knows all about all of them. It only takes them seconds to loot them.
Absolutely!
I understand all this. It is a matter of priorities. Do you not think the SSA has every person, every illegal tied to a fake or existing SSN not logged tracked and separated?
I maintain they are not that complete unless they specifically ‘target’ you like a Tea Partier. I can only say that I am well satisfied enough know that when I get an alert from any one of my credit cards, banks, etc. to tell me “an account change has occurred” from the Walmart one mile away from my home where I just charged $20 or withdrew $20 or did whatever as a pending charge, which would include an “account hold, process pending for an IRS charge” to be able to immediately go to the other accounts and react accordingly.
You two can pooh-pooh all you want. I know it works.
Placing a lien on someone’s bank account, and actually seizing funds in that bank account require multiple layers of court action.
This guy HAD to receive - and sign for - several registered letters before any bank would have allowed seizure of his funds.
Most disability income from most sources is completely exempt from seizure, and most pensions are, too.
There are probably hundreds of cases like this each year.
And there is certainly a standard legal solution in use to prevent it from happening.
My guess?
This guy completely ignored repeated warnings that this was going to happen, and he did nothing.
One of you in California and the other in New York and you two are telling someone outside there how to do things?
I don’t think so.
Exactly so. Precautions are important! :)
You might want to read the actual words next time.
Neither of us told you how to do anything or even suggested you do anything.
And don’t forget....it was really bad customer service.
I tend to believe that Obama and his enablers had planned/intentions of setting up their version of a KJB or Gestapo. The easy route was to use an established government agency which already had some police powers to transform into a full fledged political police organization, a la the IRS. I believe the power of the IRS for governmental purpose reared an ugly head when the income tax issue was used to get Capone into prison. Just another case of being careful of what one wishes for.
They send a letter stating that you owe X amount and if you have any questions call the number above.
When you call they tell you that you owe this money from an early withdrawal of a 401K. As soon as you tell the lady on the phone that it is military pension she says OOHHH.
Send a letter explaining this. Then about 4 months later you receive a letter telling you oh by the way you were right, you don't owe anything.
This happened to us and another retiree that we know of. Unfortunately, the other gentleman paid it the first year, but wised up the second year.
