Boycott Cinco de Mayo--don't buy at the sales (vanity)

Cinco de Mayo is a day of Mexican revolution and it if we are not careful it will be inflicted on Americans, via Political Correctness, like Kwanzaa. I'll be interested to see how Rubio handles a Mexican holiday, when he is of Cuban descent!

The only Mexicans I plan to support on May 5th are the cooks at my favorite restaurant who are ambitious enough to work for a living, instead of coming here to live off the public teet.

At last year’s Cinco De Mayo party, I raised the following toast, “Here’s to the Cinco De Mayo, some stupid Mexican holiday most of us know little or nothing about, and really don’t care because we’re TEXANS living in the greatest country on Earth.”

Cinco de Mayo is a day of Mexican revolution

Actually it was the day they won one battle against a French invasion. However they still lost the war.

Mexican independence day in September 16, which is a lot harder for a drunken frat boy to say in Spanish after 10 Coronas.

Cinco de Mayo is a day of Mexican revolution

::facepalm:: Seriously you should ask this be pulled before you embarrass yourself. Cinco de Mayo is as much an American Holiday as a Mexican one as we took part in the ousting of the French from Mexico. Mostly though, it is a holiday contrived by beer companies here in America. It has nothing to do with the Mexican revolution. At that, it is barely celebrated in Mexico, mostly just in a few, touristy areas.

This is a fake Mexican holiday introduced in the US public school system so that the Mexican children we are paying to educate could have a holiday of their own to celebrate. After all, Blacks have the whole month of February to celebrate being Black.

Most of the uneducated, unwashed, tattooed, wired and nailed imbeciles who get drunk and drugged on Cinco de Mayo haven’t a clue as to what this date commemorates.

In Mexico it’s barely celebrated. North of the border it’s become a day that few understand other than the partying aspect. It’s a conglomeration of illegal trespassing taco crunchers and a large contingent of gringo trash who end up stumbling drunk in a gutter somewhere.

The date commemorates the Mexican army’s 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War (1861-1867).

As I said, very few understand what this was all about.

Back in my high school days in S. California (’60s), the party crowd would head to TJ (Tijuana) for Cinco de Mayo and come back with some pretty wild stories.

Thank you.
It seems we get this every single year. People don’t even take the time to understand it. It isn’t even celebrated in Mexico, except Puebla I believe. It has been celebrated in the US since the late 1800s but mostly, it started gaining popularity when beer companies started pushing it in the 1980s.

Is celebrating Cinco de Mayo any different that celebrating St. Patrick's Day?

Actually, France wouldn't have been invading Mexico but we'd tied ourselves up with the Civil War ~

I think what it showed, though, was despite limited capabilities, the Mexicans were still willing to defend America against Europe even if we'd decided it was more fun to shoot each other.

Doesn't mean they should all move here though, but it's something to think about.

January is Martin Luther Kind month, and February is Black History Month. Now May is Mexican month?

Which month is Gay month? Can it be far behind?

I dislike it because it’s new, PC, and smacks of “bow down and take it.” Wonder if Rubio will be present? St Pat’s is not PC, it’s not Kwanzaa, and as far as I know doesn’t celebrate an invasion and try to coerce the public into cooperation.

Really? It is not a darn holiday. Neither is Halloween, Valentine’s Day, Ramadan, Kwanzaa, Secretries Day or the slew of other days everyone wants to take off.

Christmas, Thanksgiving, New Years, Easter, Memorial Day, the 4th, and Labor Day. Those that don’t like those can go where they celebrate the other ones.
