On Thursday night [Friday morning] at 12:45am EST. I was in my living room working on my computer when I heard multiple “pops” coming from outside. At that point, I had no idea that I was about to become an eye witness to the biggest news story in the country.
When I looked outside my window, I could clearly see two people (the Tsarnaev brothers) taking cover behind an SUV and engaging in gunfire. After witnessing shots being fired I promptly ran up the stairs to my 3rd floor bedroom to distance myself a little further away from the gunfire. As I ran into my room, overwhelmed by shock, adrenaline, and curiosity, I jumped onto my bed to stay below the windows but also have a clear view at the shooters and photograph the event. As soon as I was laying safely on my bed I started taking pictures with my iPhone 5 and captured the following images that documented the terrifying shootout with the Tsarnaev brothers, which then led to an overnight citywide manhunt.

Here are the two brothers taking cover behind the black Mercedes SUV and shooting towards Watertown Police officers. (Taken at 12:46:11AM)

The shooters were also driving the green sedan on the left. They had the back passenger door open and were going back into the car where they had additional supplies (assumingly, more ammunition and explosives). They also had backpacks at their feet where they also had additional supplies.
This is a view from the west-facing window in my bedroom and at the end of the block (Laurel St.) you can see multiple police vehicles. These vehicles were about 75-80 yards from the shooters. (Taken at 12:46:25AM)

Should have seen me cowboy shooting a couple of weeks ago.
If it wasn’t for recovering from shoulder surgery and not wanting to pick up a 10# rifle in a timed event I would have won.
Had the fastest times with six guns and shotgun. Zero misses and after the contest set up the wind mill and started plinking it with the .45. Just shot in between the blades.
Bling! Bling! Bling! Bling!
Luv shooting and just helped a friend become a real American. He bought his first gun and I gave him sever lessons on safety. Never let him slide on any issue and hammered home that your number one responsibility in gun ownership is safety.
Then we got to shooting and he was hitting 2-3” groups at 12 feet, shooting faster than he should but, he’s new and that’s not bad for a nOOb.
I get pardoned.
20 years isn’t a barrier to protecting my life or the innocent.
If yer a bad guy, you will be ended badly and with extreme prejudice.
I can live with the consequences knowing I did the right thing, rather than living knowing I could have ended their murderous rampage.
By Patrick or Obama? You must be inebriated or delusional.
You're a cop? LOL!
Nope. Just a great shot and certain of what must be done.
The question I ask isn’t “When should I shoot”.
it’s”
“Should I shoot?”
delusional.
haven’t had a drink in a week.
If the photog had a rifle instead of a camera it might have been better all around.
What makes you certain the people you intended to shoot were criminals/terrorists who had killed others? It was dark, wasn't it?
Thanks for the ping!
i was thinking the same - what a surprise it would have been to them -
Everyone understands the rules about knowing your target and what is behind it right?
Is there not a question of with all the shooting, the estimated 190 misses, where those rounds were going?
Why not back off and pursue rather than engage?
Couple shells of .00 Buck from the front door...
No question the IV does better on light. But the 700 should do better on accuracy.... ;-) But then, that really depends most on the one pulling the trigger, doesn’t it?
I was surprised at how much light there was....
Probably. Desperate times/desperate measures.
If that was my bedroom, I would have dropped them both and saved everybody a lot of trouble.
“certain of what must be done.

In my ‘hood, if you are a) outside my bedroom, b) taking cover behind your car, and c) engaging police vehicles at the corner with rifle fire, let’s just say there is METAPHYSICAL CERTAINTY that my INTENTION to shoot you will result in you going down.
Thanks for the ping!
Interesting indeed. Two vehicles. Have not heard that before.
Wow! Excellent! Fun isn’t it? I don’t take enough “play” time...
Want to try my hand at point and shoot. Have a fun lady smith here. Not a great marksman but we have fun.
Good on ya for bringing your friend into the “sport”
I’m still not going to mess with ya. ; )
