After striking again early Sunday morning, a Beaumont serial robber has finally been caught, but not before he targeted a victim who fought back.
Beaumont and Lumberton Police collectively captured 21-year-old Scott Allen Willis Sunday after he committed two more robberies in Lumberton.
Police say Willis, along with the help of 22-year-old Malik Washington and 21-year-old Ariel Malveaux, first abducted a woman in the 200 block of Village Creek Parkway.
They drove her to an ATM and made her withdraw money before releasing her.
Then they attempted to rob two women at their home in the 100 block of Dennis Drive.
However, one of the women had the chance to grab a handgun from inside the home and shoot Willis in the abdomen.
Willis, Washington, and Malveaux were arrested later at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth in Beaumont.
Police say the woman acted bravely in self-defense, and want to warn criminals that a county or city line won't stop police from coming after them.
Willis is suspected of also robbing several other women in Beaumont over the last two weeks.
No word yet on whether malveaux and washington were involved in those crimes.

I’m all for women arming themselves, but be careful about quoting that “20% chance...women sexually assaulted in their lifeteim” claim. Many quotes about female sexual assault come from arch-radical feminists. A number of people, including Christian Hoff-Summers, have investigated those claims (and the 1 in 4 college female rape claim) and concluded they don’t hold up to scrutiny.

For what it's worth, I acquired the 20% number mentioned above from a woman who'd been stabbed and raped and left for dead, and very nearly did die. She spent quite some while in a hospital and considerably more undergoing plastic surgery, lived in a center for rape victims some while, and eventually heard I owned a gun and asked me in a timid voice whether it was true and how people qualify for licenses to buy guns. I introduced her to shooting. She went on to become an NRA-certified trainer long before I did, and made it her business to reach out to other women crime victims.

As I understand Colorado, New York, Connecticut and Illinois is among a minority of primarily liberal states that are moving towards restricting self-defense rights.
Most States are either moving in the other direction, like Texas, Alaska, and Indiana just to name a few or are doing nothing.
All in all I think Obama is losing his war on guns. Washington is the only real threat for most of us right now, and that threat only exist if the house republicans cave.
I guess starting tomorrow, I'll check CSPAN thorough the day to see what the Senate is doing.

According to Hoff-Sommers, the number is maybe around 5-8% from the Justice Department, but no one really knows what the absolute correct number is. What she checked was the original story by a feminist named Mary Koss who came up with the 20% number. She and some other people found Koss’s research troubling. For instance, like many feminists, Koss didn’t ask women if they were rapedd but set up a list of factors that supposedly constitute rape but didn’t involve actual sexual intercourse. Many of the feminists assume more rapes are taking place but that many women do not report them.
Then there’s the one in four college rape claim. Again people like Heather MacDonald found a lot of the claims spurious. She checked a number of campi where supposedly female coeds were being raped and found a minuscule number of rapes had actually taken place.
I usually doubt or dismiss claims made by feminists of numbers of violence against women out of hand. That is not to dismiss any violence perpetrated against women (or any other group of people.) But like many of the claims about racial prejudice and race crimes, leftist feminists simply cannot be trusted to give correct numbers about anything related to women and violence.

I don't know the race of the person who shot him. It wasn't clear from the article, but if I'd have to guess I'd guess black.* In fact if it weren't for the names and the ability to look up mug shots online, we'd never know the race of the criminals.
