A recent solicitation from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) reveals that the agency is seeking a "massive" online database capable of pulling up individuals' personal information, connections and associates.
On March 28, ATF posted the notice on FedBizOpps.gov, entitled "Investigative System." The solicitation was updated on April 5 with a few minor changes.
The document says that the system will be utilized by staff "to provide rapid searches on various entities for example; names, telephone numbers, utility data and reverse phone look-ups, as a means to assist with investigations, and background research on people, assets and businesses."

What could possibly go wrong?
Just what they need to keep all those records which it is illegal for them to keep.
I am sure they will come up with some twisted logic claiming they really aren’t keeping those records they are supposed to destroy.
The ACLU will be on this quickly. /sarc/
Very Naziesque. I wonder what the DUmmies over at the DUmbster think of their “massas” now.
From an IT standpoint, I don’t know which is more fantazamorgical: this or nobamacare.
Whole buncha contractors gonna make a whole buncha money on this. And in the end, after countless delays, budget overruns and missed deadlines, the end product will do maybe 40% of what was originally envisioned. ‘Course, you’ll never hear about that.
I trust the BATF explicitly/sarc
I have run into ATF agents who were decent guys but the agency’s managers are intent on violating the Constitution every single chance they get.
At times they have been a rogue agency totally out of control but with the blessings of their superiors.
Actually, we heard the lite/Canadian version when they bailed on their long-gun registry after it couldn’t be implemented with the money available, even with additional money infusions. That actually makes it easy to predict a failure to perform in other such over-reach endeavors like the ATF and ACA.
This oughtta scare the crap out of every sane American.
I am already going paperless, trying anyway, paying cash everywhere possible and getting receipts and I have nothing to hide. The gov knowing every move I make just creeps me out.
Even on this forum, we are not anonymous. All it takes is a court order to the owner and he has no choice but to comply, nor would I expect him to not comply and give up his freedom.
We must change this ever more encroaching government, it is in no way what the founding fathers envisioned.
Not to worry. They’re only going after the paranoiacs.
We need a database on all feds/ law enforcement/ politicians that has the same info.
Well, my best fren runs a Messican drug cartel. He gess hees guns from the ATF. Then he sells me anytheeng I want. He sole me a DEA “sell-all-thee-drugs-in-Chicago-you-want-to” card. He toll me if any steenking American Federales effer @#$% weeth me he would take care uff eet right away. Any more eenformation you like to know about me, Jefe?

The states can tell the ATF Nazis to go F themselves. No state cooperation, no information and no database.
It’s time for state’s to tell the ATF that they’re persona non grata, and if they enter a state, they will be arrested, disarmed and thrown in prison.
It's called the "Internet."
Perhaps they should look into it.
It’s called facebook.
That 40% is 100% too much!
