The sheep, or as many call them, the sheeple, are content to graze in the pasture of television and newspapers, living their lives without a care in the world. Some are true believers, biting at every sprig of lusciously painted foliage offered. Most, however, are satisfied with the sustenance their current enclosure provides them. Cyprus? Drones? It doesn't matter to them; they go on with their lives oblivious to the world around them as long as they have March Madness and Honey Boo-Boo. Since they obey the law, why should they care? Surely, the government is here to protect them. They're good citizens. In fact, the government is supposed to take care of them, isn't it?
Enter the sheepdogs -- armed servants whose job is to protect the sheep from the wolves. Most, if not all, would acclaim that they are noble creatures. After all, they are the ones laying their lives on the line to protect the defenseless. Noble creatures, indeed -- it does take a special kind of individual to go into harm's way. Never question the sheepdog, though, for they are the only ones keeping the wolves at bay. They are the protectors of the sheep. This has been drilled into the minds of everyone who has been in that role, myself included. But, are they? Who do they really protect?

In before the humblegunner retort.
Sheepdog here myself. Involved in several levels on investigating corruption. I expose many of the liars and crooks for what they really are. That’s my main contribution to society in that aspect. I get what you are saying...: )
You seem to be here just to promote your own material:

To wit; When the wolves come for the sheep, where will the shepherd be? In front of or behind the sheepdog? Easy answer. The shepherd does not have the tools or the will to fight the wolves.
This sheepdog answers to no shepherd, yet I will fight for the sheep when the wolves come calling.
The Sheep Dogs and Wolves seem to sharing the sheep and lambs.. with some private “DEAL” between them..
The “protection” offered is severely FLAWED....
They BOTH seem to be parasites colluding in a “SCAM”...
The TOP DOGS are Sheep gourmets... but the Wolves are still just predators..
The difference between them..... is merely a “LABEL”...
That’s close to what I was thinking, but still accurate. As I tried to point out, most sheepdogs are too caught up in the perceived nobility of the job. Hitler had sheepdogs, too, all thinking they were noble beasts. The difference is the shepherd, and no shepherd raises sheep for his own entertainment.
The sheepdogs are looking grayer and more feral everyday, and the shepherd seems to like it that way. Any sheep that dares to grow horns to protect itself will be put down quickly by the shepherd, sheepdog and wolves.
