As Wendys Co. continues its effort to modernize restaurants, up to 130 U.S. restaurants could be closed in the coming year because they are not making enough money to be worthy of being remodeled or rebuilt.
The news came yesterday as the Dublin-based company announced earnings for the fourth quarter and full year.
Wendys is beginning the third year of its Image Activation program to raze, rebuild or remodel nearly half of its 600 company-owned stores by the end of 2015.
So far, the Dublin-based fast-food restaurant has rebuilt 58 company-owned stores since 2011, and it plans to rebuild or remodel another 100 company stores and 100 franchised stores this year.
The first year, the rebuilt stores drove average sales increases of 25 percent, and those results continue to hold today, Emil Brolick, the companys chairman and CEO, told securities analysts during a conference call....

Ahh - thought you meant the one on Roe. /whew
Wendys is ok, the worst is KFC. Their wings have broken bones and signs of internal bleeding. Will never go there again. And they are way pricey.
That one is always busy at lunch time
I never disliked Wendy’s food, but I rarely stopped at them if there was any other choice; and haven’t been in one for over 15 years, because...
I can NOT drive and “drink” a Frosty; and on the road, I’m not interested in going in to sit & eat; I want & need to keep on truckin’.
I could NOT get a SHAKE! And I got tired of asking if they had shakes yet. Not serving milkshakes at a burger joint is like not offering grilled onions & mushrooms at a steakhouse.
I can eat a burger & fries behind the wheel, using one hand and not looking at the food (I know where my mouth and hand are!) but, I can’t do that with a large drink cup & a spoon; and the Frosty could never be sucked through a straw until it melted.
That was okay (The Silver Goblet Milkshake) at Bob’s Big Boy, as I was seated to spoon it up; not trying to drive.
Call me a cliche, but when I get a burger & fries, I want a MILKSHAKE with it.
And, more to the point, a CHOICE of flavors, not Chocolate-Take-it-Or-Leave-It! Yes, MAYBE chocolate; but sometimes pineapple, or banana, or raspberry, or cherry, or a mixture of two or more: that’s why I go to DQ.
I understand that they do (allegedly) have some shakes now; and even a choice of flavors, but it is years too late to entice me back.
And I as well.
I drove down a prominent street yesterday that used to be flourishing just a couple of years ago. The businesses and restaurants that are boarded up and closed are not your isolated eyesore anymore. They are becoming the majority in some sections.
The country has been able to mask the Depression we are in with debt and EBT cards.
That facade has cracked.
The US Government cannot even pay its own FBI Agents, nurses NASA engineers, DoD Intelligence Officers, and FAA Air Traffic Controllers full wages. Almost every Federal worker is about to be furloughed, some with over a 20% gross paycut.
If things are really this bad, then Congress, the President, and all of their staff should take the same 20% pay cut.
Perhaps they will wake up to the cold hard reality of the decay of this nation.
This was the first time I ever got sick from eating at Wendy’s. The only other complaint I have at that store is miserably slow service, so I’m suspecting a management problem.
I am wondering whether the shift from full-time to part-time employees (forced by Obamacare) is having an effect on these fast food places. This Wendy’s seems to have all new people working there, I would guess recent immigrants.
Again, a management problem.
Nope. Going through the drive thru.
Confirmation from snopes: yes they do make the chili from leftover hamburgers.
yuck
Well, it’s not like they made chili from burgers that customers partially ate.
lol.
That is true.
we hope.
heh
