A friend of mine taught sections of the Bible in a Lit. course and always got complaints that Scripture was being included with works of fiction.
When I was in public school in Memphis, back in the 50s,
It was normal for each of us in home room to take turns reading a bible passage every morning.
How times have changed...for the worse, of course.
Today, i guess it would be a criminal offense.

Uh, no. Bad, bad idea. They will do it the same way they teach sex education, drawing from the deepest depths of depravity and calling it normal. Allow them to teach the Bible, and they will turn your children into atheists using scripture. If you want your children to know the lessons of scripture, teach them yourself. Hopefully by example.
But what the heck. Let's get on with life?;-)

I totally agree with you.
Not only that — in today’s political atmosphere you can expect that, should public school teach the Bible, the muzzies will insist that the same teachers also teach the Koran and then, somewhere in the distant future, someone will insist that the Kama Sutra be required reading. And before you know it Hugh Hefner will insist that all HS students read Playboy, etc. etc.
And, considering today’s SCOTUS, they will all sagely nod their heads in agreement.
Two words... home - school
My personal favorites in the Old Testament are:
1. The Lord works in mysterious ways.
It's nearly impossible to imagine the horror of a real life event such as happened to Joseph in Genesis getting sold as a slave by his own family. Then the prison languishing of the innocent man that happened later made the horror even worse. He was a guy betrayed at every opportunity he had to show good faith.
If these horrors hadn't been forced on him, especially the original betrayal by his brothers, the family would have eventually starved. It was the original Count of Monte Christo except Joseph never really tried to exact revenge.
The Lord works in mysterious ways.
2. Best opportunity for a modern made-for-TV miniseries

3. Best chance for redemption, even for such as I who has lived a sometimes...often...shall we say, undisciplined life.
Stories too numerous to recont. I liked the NT stories of the prodigal son and the adultress the Democrats er, er, the proud city elders wanted stoned after they had their way with her.
