A mother and daughter newspaper delivery team who were mistakenly shot by Los Angeles police hunting for a fugitive former cop will get a new pickup truck courtesy of the department.
LAPD Cmdr. Andrew Smith says the department's Chief Charlie Beck met with the women in their Torrance home Saturday to apologize and tell them he had arranged for someone to donate a new pickup truck.

A new truck is a start.
Well, I can not say how I really feel. I would get booted. Some words about parentage, self procreating and recycling food. We are not happy. Kinda hits home when I drive down that street all the time in my darker blue Tacoma.

According to today’s LA Times, there were “at least seven” cops there when they lit up that pickup truck.
Seven cops, and no one thought to approach for ID, or literally light up the truck with a spotlight to see what color it really was, etc.
The entire LAPD should be under investigation now, from the top on down.
That new truck ought to have about $40 million in the back of it too.
Don’t know what is more incompetent. Not making any attempt to identify the truck, or throwing 30+ rounds at it and not killing anyone. These cops should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
Maybe they’re giving them one that’s Armored Plated, just in case they run into another couple of LA’s Finest.
I think they’re trying to give them the truck along with a form that says sign here — “I waive my right to sue the LAPD”. No way.
That’s my guess too. If their lawyer has two ounces of brains to rub together he’ll tell the LAPD what they can do with their proposed settlement...ah, generous gift.
Seven cops, 47 bullets (6-7 shots apiece), and they only grazed the women and never hit their targets (thank the Creator!). What is with the panic-shooting of late? This is not a disciplined police force.
I’m guessing there was standing room only when the Chief of Clowns showed up, the women’s lawyers taking up most of the space, ain’t no way they’re not lawyered up with all the publicity.
I suspect you’re right. I know they’re are already lawyered up.
Make sure you specify the Extra-Heavy-Duty Model, a la le HummVee especial, and insist upon the unleaded options on everything, from paint to petrol!
