Today's hearing on Benghazi is just sad. We have the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the outgoing Secretary of Defense testifying to the Senate hearing that even though it was 9/11, who everyone and their mother understood is the anniversary of the worst attack on American soil...even though, due in no small part to Obama's actions, Libya had become a hotbed of al-Qaeda activity, AND even though the ambassador to Libya had sent warning of impending threats, they did nothing to ensure the security of the embassy and our citizens.

No one expects our military to have assets in place everywhere but everyone expects them to have assets in place where an attack is most likely to happen.
The President, the Vice President, the CIA, the State Department and our military didn't know that Libya had been over-run with al-Qaeda? They didn't know it was 9/11? They didn't know about the warnings sent by Ambassador Stevens?

And the Chairman was a bit surprised himself to learn that Hillary Clinton testified she didn't know of the cables sent by the Ambassador:

The DNCmedia was more concerned that GW Bush may have been fake but accurately AWOL during the Vietnam War or that he remained seated for 7 minutes after being informed of the 9/11 attacks on the WTC towers.

Dempsy taking the fall? Is he isolating his boss? Sounds strange that no further communication between Dempsy, Clinton, Obama. As a Boss I would require my subordinates to keep me updated, yet, nothing between O’ & his staff?

Even if O’ gave a verbal order, he would still be required to put that order in writing, for that order to be valid!
I read today that the orders for the military that night were to ‘prepare for a rescue’, according to Panetta.
Total BS - parsing.
Those are the standing orders. The story here is that the President (the only one with the authority) did not sign the order to actually rescue the Americans in Benghazi. Obama was the only one with authority to order US troops to cross a recognized border on a mission - to go into Libya and save them.
It probably would have been an F-18 flyover within 45 minutes, followed by a special forces team from Sigonella within 2 hours. (I have heard that the Marines were on the flight deck ready to go.)
The problem was in the oval office. Its occupant didn’t give a $h!t about the Americans and was willing to sacrifice them on the altar of political correctness so as to not annoy his buddies.
