In a candid and honest response to a question at a town hall on February 2nd, 2013, Representative Hunter says that because the Black community has more crime than White communities, they have been historically kept from having guns. Representative Hunter must be given credit for not being sure that the approach has worked. Here is a transcript of that portion of the video.
Chicago Town Hall, 3rd Legislative District:
At 1:38:35 to 1:39:40, State Representative Ken Duncan, when asked why do 49 states have concealed carry legislation and we don't, says:
" The City of Chicago, Historically their opposition toward concealed and carry has been significant, keep in mind the lion's share of the bulk of us represent this metropolitan area, and keep in mind the lion's share of the abject poverty and crime, even though in every state in the Union, there are more poor whites on public welfare, in every state, the crime, the concentration of crime, and again, the abject poverty exists, exists exclusively and criminally in our community. And so this city has sought to kind a play a regulatory role for reducing the activity of guns trafficking in the city. Has it worked? But that, to answer your question, and the Speaker of our house as you know, like most of us know, that if it hit the house floor, it would pass."

Clearly, the old approach of keeping poor black folks from having legal guns has failed. Perhaps it is time to try a new approach, of allowing responsible, honest black people to have guns to defend themselves from the predators in their community. It has worked where it has been tried.

Just in case you ever decide to get a Pistol, you can buy a Hi Point 9MM for around $149.
You can even get a Hi Point .40 or .45 for under $250.
They are a bit heavy, but they shoot well and have a lifetime warranty.
This image, which I'm "borrowing" from onyx really states the case in stark, visual terms:
That is one of the coolest side-by-side graphics I ever saw.
Thanks for that.
Bookmarked!
amen to that. but i’d say it’s a fair bet that there’s more blacks in chicago with guns than anyone else. the dude’s argument falls apart.
it ain’t a race thing. it’s a class/elitist thing. it’s the elite vs all the rest of the peons. the elite have armed security and get exemptions to carry, but they don’t want any of the rest of the lower citizenry to be able to defend themselves.
I've since stumbled across that same image that's a tad bit sharper. This ought to be publicized far and wide. If the lamestream media had any sense at all, it would be on the front page of every newspaper in America:
I think you mean, "If the lamestream media had any integrity". It does not. The entirety of their purpose is to help their Democrat party send America down the toilet. It is what they are.
The Democrat "mainstream" newsrooms got the way they are for a reason - - people who are bitter malcontents by nature gravitate toward socialism and its primary tool, "the news". This is why the Democrat "mainstream" newsrooms are populated by liberals. The old saying, "Misery loves company," is at play here. The fact is, liberals by nature are incapable of true happiness and selfishly want everybody to be as humorless and miserable as they are. Equally so.
“He’s got it backwards. Because the Black community has been historically kept from having guns, they have more crime than White communities.”
I would narrow it even further. Because the Black community has been historically kept from having *legal* guns, they have more crime than White Communities.
I think that John Lott said that inner city urban black women benefited most from being able to carry concealed and legally.
your graphic puts Chicago in the low violence catagory
