While the departure of Sarah Palin from Fox News as a paid contributor has caused endless speculation (as well as endless jubilation among her enemies) there are just a few known facts, according to the story in RealClearPolitics.
After some negotiations for a renewal of her contract, Palin was made an offer which was refused. The parting of the ways is said to be amicable.
That doesn't mean that some informed speculation is not warranted.

This is turning out to be both a fun
and enlightening thread (almost like a FReepathon)! OK...my turn, here's an equation written by and mastered by Sarah Palin:
...and, by way of contrast, here's one that challenges the comprehension level of 'RATs, RINOs and those suffering from PDS (also known as liberals):

Lets you and I end this on a positive note with our combined hopes that Sarah runs for some type of political office (hopefully US House or Senate).
I think many of us were profoundly disappointed Sarah didn't run. I just believe Sarah can help change things by being in public office. Heaven knows we need good men and women who have courage. Sarah definitely has plenty of that.
No hard feelings...I think we're on the same team on this. Cheers!

...preaching to choir on Hannity and Greta... Truth be told, I'm glad Sarah Palin is no longer with that outfit, as onyx calls it, "Faux News". In particular, Greta Van Susteren creeps me out as an active member of the Christ-denying weird cult of Scientology. Sarah Palin's far better then the whole bunch over there and got out before Van Susteren goes full Thetan like crazy John Travolta, Tom Cruse and Kirstie Alley.

There will be an election, in Texas. Now if the rest want to hide in the corner, its the choice each must make.

She should run for the senate seat from Alaska. She would be a great conservative senator. She is never going to be the President of the USA.

If we wait on the sidelines or not, doesn't matter. The GOP will SHOVE whomever they choose in our face. As of this moment, we have NO idea what is going on behind the scenes. You are prejudging her....and all of us whom still support her. Very lefty of you. You mean the mistake of her NOT running and getting all those Tea Party peeps elected in 2010, as well as 2012? The GOP leadership will shove their next choice down our throats for 2016 - if we let them. Whether that is another Bush or Christie hardly matters. What matters is that conservatives rapidly unite behind a strong conservative candidate who can win the nomination. If my first choice is running, I will do everything I can to make sure she is the one we unite behind. If not, I will not make the mistake of waiting for her to jump into the race. While she accomplished a lot in 2012 and even more in 2010, I will be behind one conservative very early in this race - and it will only be Sarah if she is unambiguously in the race.
