You are witnessing the same tactics used by MSM on this thread. i would ask you to please read my above post #18, which clarifies exactly what Newt said.
Oh please, don’t isolate a portion of a comment. I don’t think Gingrich holds himself out as any expert on marriage issues. He is speaking to a rapidly evolving issue and is absolutely accurate in describing the sentiment of where this country is on gay marriage. If you are going to post a quote, have the guts to post the entire quote and let people decide what was actually said.
Santorum was not, is not, and never will be the ‘only hope.’ He would be slaughtered in a national general election. He is perceived generally as entirely too self-righteous to ever be elected in the current cultural environment. And he doesn’t enjoy one ounce of ‘charisma.’ Kind of a shame but that’s where the USA is today.
I believe that Newt is one of many RINO’s who believe the Repubs must and will surrender on gay marriage issues. He’s hinting, alluding and testing the waters here.

But not that any of this matters. Newt is way past his 15 minutes. His sell-by date expired some 20 years ago. Damn shame he muddied up the waters with a lame and weak run at the presidency last year. But at least we can now write him off as totally no longer relevant, right?
You are right Newt has no relevancy. He holds no power or office, so why would you take the time to misquote him? I’ll tell you what was a weak and lame run at the presidency, Mitt Romney, and if you think Gingrich kept Santorum from the nomination you are delusional. It was going to be Romney all the way, no matter who our choices were.
Actually, one of your choice is a criminal and the other a pervert. I am convinced there are no good people in the Republican Party to advise
anyone. We need to really clean house, then pass a law that those in congress can not spend more than 36 days a year in DC. They need to be in their home state listening to those whom they serve.
Santorum isn’t a natural born citizen.
His father was born in Italy and did not become a naturalized citizen until AFTER his son was born.
Senator Santorum knew that fact, hid it, and solicited donations. When confronted he said if it was good enough for Obama, it was good enough for himself.

Boehner does not have a very bright mind. And he doesn’t seem to grasp the power that the House can wield. The House needs a mind that can match Schumer’s (I think we all know that he is the puppet master behind both Reid and Obama). Since there appear to be none currently in the House to match Schumer, Newt could be the mind behind scenes. He and Delay were not afraid to use power. And Boehner needs to be shored up by somebody!
Yes, I think that’s something that everybody overlooks. Boehner, in normal times, would probably have been quite competent. But these aren’t normal times, and we need somebody smart - and wily.
When I think of it, really one of the big problems is that Boehner is playing by the old rules, either not wanting or not willing to admit that they have changed and this is a whole different game.
I actually think Obama’s contempt for him and mistreatment of him could be a good thing, because I think he’s beginning to wake up and realize that this isn’t politics as usual.

Newt is a diehard Progressive posing as a conservative (one of only 18 Republicans - and the only one out of the Northeast - who voted to approve Jimmy Carter's Dept. of Education in 1978). And DeLay was a big government jerkoff - don't you remember how he kept the House floor vote open an extra 2 HOURS to personally bribe or threaten every holdout member in order to get the disgraceful Medicare Part D bill passed?
Say what you will about Newt, he is still the only one to get any major conservative thing done in Washigton DC since Reagan.

Well, I remember Newt being a fearless powerhouse in the House. He took on Tip O’Neal, then took out Speaker Wright. When he became Speaker, he cut all staffs by a third, eliminated committees and sub-committees (there wasn’t a single democrat that couldn’t be called Mr. Chairman), he term-limited committed chairs and his own office, the speakership. When Clinton said that the budged couldn’t be balanced in seven years, Newt said well, we’re going to do it anyway. And they balanced it it three. He forced the ever-shaky senators to act again and again on welfare reform, he lowered taxes, let the ICC expire (the first time an agency ever disappeared. And he put solid conservatives in charge of committees, ignoring the old seniority system.
Newt’s had his liberal moments, yes. But he’s an out of the box thinker and is not afraid to disrupt the established order. I liked Tom Delay because he hammered the democrats. And while Medicare Part D was another entitlement that we didn’t need, for the first time, the medicare program had been changed, and market forces were introduced into health care, which is why Nancy Pelosi gutted it within Obamacare.
We’re not getting anywhere with Boehner and his wine-drinking, establishment loving, “leadership”.
