I often have SurvivalBlog readers forward me alarmist e-mails, warning of "total disarmament" of the civilian populace. While there indeed may be plans or schemes to disarm Americans, I don't consider these threats credible. Let me explain why: I would conservatively estimate that there are about 316 million firearms in private hands in the United States. Of these, less than 10% are logged in any formal registry. Perhaps another 30% have Form 4473s filed with the FFL dealers where they were first purchased, but that is a fractured mishmash of records with a quite perishable life span. It is notable that we live in a very mobile society, where most families move every three or four years. And in most states, there are no record keeping requirements for secondary sales of firearms. So to call the accumulation of 4473 forms a de facto registration system is laughable.

Any gun you are going to sell do so on the free market for cash.
Don't ask for ID don't ask for a receipt. After 3 or more sales the gun becomes almost untraceable.
On another thread, Biden told the Boston mayor, he and Obama would have gun legislation done by the end of January.
I keep hearing Democrats and Republicans in the senate and house don't want major gun restrive laws. That does not compute with Biden/Obama, so how is it going to happen?
If Obama doesn't get what he wants, can he possibly do it with executive orders?
To me, this is our first battle of this war - the gun restrictions he gets done one way or another.
Indeed, Malone.
I look at it like this.
If my rights given to me by God mean nothing, and if those same rights named in the constitution mean nothing, then the government established by that same constitution means nothing and all of the laws passed by that same government mean nothing.
The left is about to pull the plug on the dam, and everything will be washed away including them.
This is, and has been, the wet dream of the Left since well before the GCA of '68. Just because they have not YET been able to realize it does not mean they cannot. Underestimating the lengths to which the Left will go is our greatest danger. THe truth means nothing to them, individuals are "collateral damage" on the way to accomplishing their goals. In their minds, the ends justify the means: "By any means necessary..."
With mentors the likes of Bill Ayres (Terrorist bomber associate) who claimed that some 25,000,000 Americans would have to be eliminated if they could not be reeducated to the thinking of The New Left (Communism), what makes you think they won't do their damndest to make it happen?
The last ballot gave them cause to think that not only has the balance tipped in their direction, but that the rest are so complacent about their rights that they didn't even bother to vote--no matter how much cheating may have skewed those numbers.
Even that that is credible in the minds of many of the American sheep is a sign that they might be able to succeed. If we do not resist with all our might, they will accomplish what they have set out to do.
We are at the point where we have given more ground than we should have ever given, all in the name of being "reasonable". No more. Not one magazine, not one inch, not one caliber, not one rifle, not one handgun, not one cartridge. No More.
Agree fully!
Confiscating people’s guns is a dream of every dictator or wanna-be tyrant. The right to bear arms is in the constitution for this very reason.
(Do you know a single person who would actually comply with an “order” to turn over his weapons? ...... see?....)

Make enough "common criminals" and they will come to each other's aid.
Perfectly said! I agree 100%.
I see it as either...
#1.getting shot trying to hold onto your guns or
#2. getting shot by gubmint folks or criminals sometime after relinquishing them.
I prefer #1.
I am sure that all your local, state, and federal reps have not heard from you lately. Make sure they all do. Be polite but to the point and very firm. Then clean and grease all your guns if they need it.
It’s no fantasy. I’m already unconstitutionally less well-armed than your average Libian jihadi.
Praying that he is correct Ping!
Of course, this is exactly why the Oppressive-Socialists go for the step of registration Lying through their teeth that they arent going to Confiscate sure and Obama is an honest man.
yep, we best all be expert shots, if they come, and they will come, if the shooting starts.

Gun Registration is Gun Confiscation

Reminds me of a quote from a damn good actor in a movie I have come to appreciate over time.
"You're all gonna die. The only question is how you check out. Do you want it on your feet? Or on your f*ckin' knees... begging? I ain't much for begging!" -Charles S. Dutton
“Rifle behind every blade of grass”
“The numbers of gun owners is WAY higher than the number of willing US military people...”
Blah, blah, blah.
History is REPLETE with examples of small, very well-organized groups being able to defeat a much larger, disorganized foe.
Cortez conquered all of Mexico and destroyed the Aztec capitol with just 600 men.
And how motivated is the opposition? Morocco Bomber stole the election and the loudest kvetching was HERE and talk radio—from the rest of the country there was barely a peep.
Should confiscation come, that, too, is how it will go, for 99.5% of people.
“but that doesnt mean they wont try.”
You are correct and it won’t be in one fell swoop. It’ll be one county at a time or even one neighborhood at a time.
That is the way the feral gov’t did with school integration and other unpopular laws. One school at a time.
Had they said, “OK, all schools have to integrate now”, then there would have been an uprising. One neighborhood at a time will avert the uprising.
