I don’t know what you are talking about. I have a brown thumb. Any success I have had I owe to Mel - the square foot gardening guy.
It’s kinda like growing plants for dummies or brown thumbs. LOL.
Ill do the hydroponic option.

I think that will probably be good for you. Now you have more preps to do, cause you’ll need to set up a store of nutrients.
No, one buys a bucket or buckets of designed nutrients that goes into the water that feeds the plants from the top down though the buckets. The nutrient stuff is a powder that you mix with water. I have to study this more to decide how many buckets of the nutrient I would need to last a long time. The plants sit in coconut shredded bark and that holds the plant and keeps the moisture with the nutrients in it to continually feed the plant.
As I get closer to the time of ordering, I'll study this until I know everything there is to know about growing these plants.
You really do know how to grow veggies because you get the job done.
The powdered nutrient was what I was talking about you needing to store.
Nah, the plants do the real work. All I do is poke a seed in the ground and add water. LOL. Hubby laughed at me the first year, as he didn’t think it would work.
Mid way through the season, he said he thought I should have some more beds, so he made them for me. The mix I use is according to Mel’s guidlines, so it’s nearly impossible to kill the plants by overwatering, which is a frequent problem.
>>> “10/22s are getting scarce.”
Along with everything else, I imagine.
As far as clean double duece munition for that 10-22, your on the right track using the CCI Stinger. Pick up some 22 snakeshot rounds while your at it. One never know when you might need to dispatch a mean ‘ol rattler!

Thanks, I’ll do that.
“When you order your 25 rounder for that 10-22 try to get the Ruger BX-25 for it.”
I’m trying to find one and so far haven’t found it. All these crazy gun people :o) have bought them all.
Thanks for the cautionary note. Being a newby, my other half has encouraged me to contact our Mormon friends here in our area to see if they might include me in one of their canning sessions at their church kitchen before I go off and do it on my own.
I certainly do not want to hurt me, or my family...or anyone else!
LOL! about the “shedding cheeses”!
Thanks for the tip. I DO have a dehydrator! I had seen other of your posts on the wonders of dehydration, and purchased that before the pressure cooker.
I had thought that shredding would be the answer, but had not thought about powdering it! So after you powder it, do you put it in vacuum pack?
I was at the store today with my sweet Darlin, and I started eyeing the packages of pre-shredded cheese...
In my previous reply, I forgot to thank you for the link! Much appreciate! ;-D
You are very welcome!
I was just throwing away some very over-ripe avocado. Does anyone know of a successful way to preserve those?
Also, I just learned about the nutritional value of fava beans. Does anyone have any favorite recipes or tips for using those?
No idea on fava beans. They aren't one of my favorites, so I ignore them. ;)

Thank you so much. I had not thought of making the guacamole and freezing.
I was thinking there might be issues if I tried to dry them because of the high fat content. Canning also seems problematic because of the heat involved. I’m not sure I’d like cooked avocados.
So to your knowledge is there any way to successfully preserve them for non-refrigerable conditions? Perhaps that may just be one of those goodies that needs to be fresh (or frozen!)
:-(
Perhaps the oil extraction might be a possibility. If I did that, would I just mash it and put it into like a cheese cloth and squeeze?
Actually it probably is not an issue. We do not have any avocado trees in these parts that I’m aware of.
Understand about the favas. To my knowledge I’ve never had them, so I am completely unfamiliar with their properties. They are so big, and actually look scary! But I know there are people who buy them, because I see them in the buy-in-bulk bins in our health food store!
I’m in a mode of trying unfamiliar things right now, so I’m willing to overcome my usual inhibitions about my (probably very limited) food preferences!
I like lima beans, and my beloved other half does not, so we don’t have those very often either. I’m wondering if favas are anything like lima beans...I should say, I’ve never cooked dried lima beans either!

you also might look at Aquaponics to close the circle of life over hydroponics. The plants just need nutrients and the fish do their thang in the water. You pump the water into the beds of gravel where the plants are and then some magic happens and the plants take up the food, and the gravel cleans the water to go back to the fish.
we spent weekends on youtube in the aquaponics section and there were many ways to achieve it, but then you don't have to buy vitamins for the water. The fish feed the plants. (or check out http://gardenpool.org/ where he gets 8 eggs a day, unlimited Talipia and 20 fruits and veggies from the back yard pool.)
good luck with any gardening, it is HARD!
