DES MOINES, Iowa For 50 years, the left-leaning columnist Donald Kaul has raged against guns, but after the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre, he says, its time for anger, killing gun owners and dragging legislators who disagree with gun control behind pickup trucks until they get the message.
The Pulitzer Prize-nominated columnist penned an alarming screed published in the Des Moines Register in which he further suggested the Second Amendment be repealed and the National Rifle Association be declared a terrorist organization.
During my 50-year career, Kaul wrote, every time some demented soul would take a semiautomatic gun and clean out a post office, a school or a picnic, Id get up on my soap box and let loose with a withering diatribe about guns, the National Rifle Association and weak-kneed politicians. Did it about 75 times, give or take.
Yet each time, he lamented, the only result was a spike in gun sales.
Thats obscene, he opined. Here, then, is my madder-than-hell-and-Im-not-going-to-take-it-anymore program for ending gun violence in America.
His first step: Repeal the Second Amendment, the part about guns anyway. Its badly written, confusing and more trouble than its worth. Surely the Founders couldnt have envisioned weapons like those used in the Newtown shooting when they guaranteed gun rights. Owning a gun should be a privilege, not a right.
Second: Declare the NRA a terrorist organization and make membership illegal.
Make ownership of unlicensed assault rifles a felony. If some people refused to give up their guns, that prying the guns from their cold, dead hands thing works for me.(continued)

That address looks like a townhouse in a gated community. Dumb bastard probably doesn’t realize just how easy it is to walk in from Huron Highway.
He’s right about one thing. Its time to get mad.
Shortly after the collapse of the Soviet Union, there was an international conference in Europe which was attended by high-ranking military officers from a number of countries.
During a break in the meetings, a group of military officers were gathered together, enjoying their refreshments and engaging in small talk.
One of the Americans asked his counter-part, a Russian general, if the Soviet Union had ever considered invading the United States during the Cold War. The Russian general laughed and said, “Oh no! You people have too many guns over there!”
he wants to murder law-abiding people, no focus on the real problem of criminals - ie the evil intent people - he believes the law-abiding are no different than the criminals.
i think the police need to arrest him for inciting hatred, and for proposing to commit mass murder of innocent citizens. and maybe they ought to confiscate any of his guns, he self-admitedly sounds very angry and unstable.
Excellent. At least one person got it .... it’s so we can protect ourselves from you!!!!!
Typical Register brainless liberal. Impressive hypocrisy: Use violence as a protest against violence.
Gun control laws. Why isn’t NY State prosecuting the bimbo that bought the guns for the killer of the firemen as an accessory to murder and attempted murder? All of a sudden that one fell off the radar as soon as it was learned that it was some bimbo that got the guns for him. Where’s that rigorous enforcement of the gun laws?
That is why it ain’t happening. I’m from Texas, and I approve this message.:>)
One has to assume he’s a total PU$$Y too. Hiding behind a column of words. Is he out looking for a fight? Doubt it very much.
No kidding. During the Apollo/Soyuz days when the Cosmonauts were training at NASA in Houston, a hunting buddy of mine, among others, took the Cosmonauts to the Houston Astrohall gun show.
They were asked not to speak and raise any attention.
There were about 3500 tables at the time and being it was before 1986, there were table after table of Class3’s.
I would have loved to be the fly on the wall the next time they called Moscow.
Ah yes, the tolerance of the left for people with differing opinions - on display again.
Tell you what Kaul, I swore an oath to defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. Sounds to me like you have a problem with the 2nd Amendment to our Constitution. You want to try to do something about it, be my guest. I won’t start it, but I guarantee you I will finish it. Come on by anytime.
WITHOUT THE SECOND AMENDMENT, ALL OTHER AMENDMENTS, AND EVEN THE CONSTITUTION ARE MEANINGLESS.......
“We the people are the rightful masters of both Congress and the courts, not to overthrow the Constitution but to overthrow the men who pervert the Constitution.”
-Abraham Lincoln
I read a piece earlier that he’s 78 and is recovering from a heart attack this spring; that’s why he “retired”. Looked all over, but can’t find it now.
Let’s see here, this fool just threatened all NRA members with bodily harm? Is it time yet, men?
Well, he was a liberal twit...
Back before "The Newspaper That Iowa Depends On" became "The Newspaper That Iowa No Longer Subscribes To," my folks were Register junkies and they sort of liked Donald Kaul, so I started reading his columns as they often had some sort of goofy regional interest. He increasingly became blatantly partisan, and struck us more and more as being (as my dad would plainly put it), "full of s**t." Around the period when Kaul had a hair up his backside about a state rep named Harold Knight, something must've snapped.
(Knight had referred to Des Moines as a "jungle." He was prescient. Kaul, however, wasn't going to let some rube from up around Humboldt call the crime capital of Iowa bad names.)
I would suggest that those were the days when he was still a liberal twit. By the time he got all "brigaty" and far too fine a social critic for the ignorant hayseeds who had kept him from going back to Hamtramck with his kielbasa in his hand, he was a full-blown leftist hack who managed to alienate the Register. Considering that the Register of that era was being steered by Michael Gartner (later of fake exploding GM pickup fame) and the egregiously bleeding-hearted Geneva Overholser, this was no mean feat.
I thought Kaul had either died or entered a monastery until a few years back when a minor rag reprinted a column of his wherein he came across as a combination of angry "look-at-me" progressive and scolding prissy aunt. His limited entertainment ability had obviously failed him completely. Now this shows up, spotlighting him as one of those literary (Polish) "sausages sputtering in his own grease." I'm a bit surprised he didn't have another heart attack before he put down the crayons this time around.
This marvelous woman is sure to be on the forefront once again against the tyranny of the “ruling class” who, regardless of their party persuasion, feel that the People of the United States should not be allowed the Constitutional right to keep and bear arms. Why does the “ruling class” think this? Because it is in their agenda to control, because otherwise WE control them, as the Founders always intended. This goes along with the “constitution is outmoded and needs to be gotten around” crowd— who are ruthless tyrants in their goals. Period. Let them try to deny it (as they try to deny that THEY themselves have firearms, but WE should not).
A quote from Suzanna Hupp in the Texas Legislature:
“How a politician stands on the Second Amendment tells you how he or she views you as an individual... as a trustworthy and productive citizen, or as part of an unruly crowd that needs to be lorded over, controlled, supervised, and taken care of.”
My late father’s or grandfather’s generations wouldn’t have taken 5% of what we’ve put up with just last year, I guarantee you that!! Where are all my fellow veterans at?
This is typical socialistic/communistic morality. It is perfectly moral for liberals to own weapons or to hire armed guards. It is immoral for anyone that isn’t a liberal or member of the ruling class to own guns. The basic presupposition is that only liberals have morals. It is a twisted logic. Liberals see no contradiction in their logic when they proscribe using guns to kill those that want to own guns.
