Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) lashed out at the upper chamber today as a symbol of governments runaway power in Americans lives.
Its an alternate universe. No, this this place is a joke. I mean, bottom line, this is an absurd process, Johnson said on CNBC. It certainly proves the genius of our founding fathers that government should be limited. I mean, the fact that we have this place having such an enormous effect on our economy, on peoples livelihood, is wrong. Its simply wrong.
So, Im the manufacturer. Im always looking for the cause of problems. The cause of the problem is that government is far too large. Its far too intrusive into our lives. It exerts way too much control over our economy, but thats where were at. And, you know, I have no I dont know too many people that really think governments effective or efficient. Why would they think the governing body of that government would be particularly effective or efficient as well? he continued. This is a mere symptom of the overall problem in a system of government that has become too large and too intrusive in our lives.
Johnson also slammed the reign of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) as a one-man dictatorship.
And under his leadership, the Senate has been a charade while Ive been here for two years. I serve on the Budget Committee. You know how many times weve voted on a budget in the Budget Committee? Zero. We havent even marked one up, he said.
The senator also decried the shady negotiations. Were here at the end of the year, a couple of elected officials with their unelected staffs, are doing these deals behind closed doors, he said. I dont know whats happening behind there. Am I all of a sudden going to get a product sometime in the middle of the day and say, youve got to vote on it right away? I mean, that is an absurd process.
Weve turned the Senate from a legislating body into a deal-making body, and thats just wrong.
How’s his voting record?
Its an alternate universe. No, this this place is a joke. I mean, bottom line, this is an absurd process,
.
Did the Senator ever had the courage to look into Obama’s eligibility?
Hey senator, that’s why we’re living in an alternate universe.
“Go Sen. Johnson...Finally a Senator that’s fed up and not afraid to speak out.”
Yep, telling it like it is.
Not new at all, definitely more common in the days when we didn’t feel the need, much less have the means, to keep the public up to date to a millionth of a percent of how well they follow who’s in or out of the NFL playoffs or who got voted off American Idol last week.
“Guess the Senators check hasnt cleared yet...”
If Ron Johnson caves, we might as well give up all. He is our Tea Party candidate from WI who replaced liberal Feingold. I am sure he is very frustrated as some of the other Young Guns are. Just hoping and praying they can stand up to the old guard.
Wow... I don’t know much about this senator, but he definitely sounds like presidential timber to me.
DeMint-Johnson ‘16
I slightly disagree. Keep a few, very few of the idiots there to remind us what has happened over the last 10 years. I would guess that number should be about 13.
Ried has stolen at least two elections. Dictator is right.
We’re in the Star Wars universe, near the end of Episode 3 — a duplicitous “Leader” with a rubber-stamp Legislature...
Yes, giant joke but NOT FUNNY!
It’s the politicians that have screwed up everything- we citizens work and send them tons of money and look what they do - live like kings and spend us into bankruptcy and then demand more.
The whole place ought to be gutted - save a few decent ones.
Haven’t followed his vote record, here’s a link to it from Project Vote Smart.

One of these days I have got to take the time to see how that would affect the current make-up of the Senate...
I’m not hearing any other senators speaking out on principle? It sounds as though he is the only senator who hasn’t been “co-opted”.
Gad! A truth teller in DC, how can the poor man exist is such a cesspool? He is right, we are governed by a bunch of insane clowns. Poor America, taken over from within by a blathering bunch of psychos showering poison candy on the “kids”.
Well, Senator, you have definitely introduced yourself. Glad to meet you, sir!
I hear you...We’ve got to get many more conservatives on the Hill.
We may be long past the time when surgery [by voting] can treat the disease. Use of chemo-rhino therapy has been a failure. The patient may not survive much longer.
