Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) lashed out at the upper chamber today as a symbol of governments runaway power in Americans lives.
Its an alternate universe. No, this this place is a joke. I mean, bottom line, this is an absurd process, Johnson said on CNBC. It certainly proves the genius of our founding fathers that government should be limited. I mean, the fact that we have this place having such an enormous effect on our economy, on peoples livelihood, is wrong. Its simply wrong.
So, Im the manufacturer. Im always looking for the cause of problems. The cause of the problem is that government is far too large. Its far too intrusive into our lives. It exerts way too much control over our economy, but thats where were at. And, you know, I have no I dont know too many people that really think governments effective or efficient. Why would they think the governing body of that government would be particularly effective or efficient as well? he continued. This is a mere symptom of the overall problem in a system of government that has become too large and too intrusive in our lives.
Johnson also slammed the reign of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) as a one-man dictatorship.
And under his leadership, the Senate has been a charade while Ive been here for two years. I serve on the Budget Committee. You know how many times weve voted on a budget in the Budget Committee? Zero. We havent even marked one up, he said.
The senator also decried the shady negotiations. Were here at the end of the year, a couple of elected officials with their unelected staffs, are doing these deals behind closed doors, he said. I dont know whats happening behind there. Am I all of a sudden going to get a product sometime in the middle of the day and say, youve got to vote on it right away? I mean, that is an absurd process.
Weve turned the Senate from a legislating body into a deal-making body, and thats just wrong.
Guess the Senator’s check hasn’t cleared yet...
A joke but none of us are laughing.
Awesome. That made my Day!! Rock On Senator.
Looks like someone FINALLY gets it.
Ron Johnson and Rand Paul need to align and take over the leadership...if not elected leadership, pick of the mantle of outspoken, principled conservatism. Others will follow. Lee, Toomey, Rubio and others. This is what’s needed. Our side needs to get outraged again like we were in 2010.
Johnson doesn’t need a check from the Senate.
The deal-making business is appalling, but not particularly new.
Keep this up Senator Johnson and you just might get a HUGE money bomb. My check book will be very picky this year.
I just became a huge fan of his today!
Amen to that, they have to start speaking out and screaming bloody murder if necessary, and it’s necessary.
Good...then we need 534 more just like him...
Straightforward honesty equals “lashing out” in Obama’s media.
Well, THIS GUY CAN DENY UNANIMOUS CONSENT to stop the bill if he wants. In the two days it takes to get a cloture vote it’ll be history.
I WANT to believe (Fox Mulder style) that he’s legit. But Is he? Or ids he the spoonful of conservative sugar to make the medicine go down?
And there’s good reasons to doubt his sincerity. Like the history of his party.
Johnson is the real deal and should run for POTUS. I think he will. Johnson/West in 2016. If we are going to lose, let’s do it with some brawlers and have some fun.
Nice job by your senator, how the heck did you vote for Bambi again this time?
He’s right.
Senator,
I suggest you initiate an amendment to the Constitution to repeal the 17th amendment.
I would vote for this man sight unseen, assuming he is actually expressing his feelings and not just pandering to the public that has come to hate Congress and DC.
