Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder has signed right-to-work legislation, dealing a devastating and once-unthinkable defeat to organized labor in a state that has been a cradle of the movement for generations.
He put his signatures on the bills Tuesday, hours after the state House passed the measures as the chants of thousands of angry pro-union protesters filled the Capitol.

That is good to hear. I wish that would happen in many more places. Who knows? We might rescue our kids yet.
Oh and I see the Robber Baron argument has come up...
So sick of that point. Who the hell did they rob?
You’re welcome Michigan. The state of Indiana was happy to welcome your businesses in record numbers. We will enjoy taking from just Ohio and Illinois now.
Indeed.
But I was interested to see that most of the comments are anti-union. And pretty much all of the pro-union commenters see this new legislation as outlawing unions. In effect, they’re conceding the main point, that given the choice, most workers won’t join the union.
If unions are such a great idea, why do they need a law forcing people to join them?
If unions are such a great idea, why do they need a law forcing people to join them?
It won’t be long before we hear about physical threats to people who choose to not join the union.
“Michigan is crippled. Its dead and dying. Unions and Democrats have bled every ounce of life from it.”
That is simply a false and grossly ignorant statement.
You DID see what happened here right? Have you read the numbers of GOP state elected offices here?
Can you name an elected rat with a job higher than county? No.
Please do not disparage the millions of good people here that know the difference between a representaive republic and a mob democracy and finally put enough good people in office to do the right thing.
We’re correcting eight years of Moleface one day at a time, we even have have a housing boom where I live.
Michigan is a sea of red, with a couple pockets of third world ghettos like Detroit & Flint.
Perhaps congratulating Michigan citizens on a job well done over years would be more prudent than ranting a falsehood that serves no purpose.
Gee!...I thought Obama showed up and made a speech!...didn’t that help the unions? HA! HA! HA!
Only this time, they will get it right back. People have had it. The arrogance and the vindictiveness from the union bosses, corrupt officials, and lowlife politicians have taken their toll on normal people who just want to live, work, and pursue their happiness.
My kids attend public school here in Lansing. At the K-8 school, not one single teacher called in to take part in the shenanigans--right across town. None of my high schooler's teachers were absent either. Unions have become pretty widely hated here.
Conservatives are laughing last.
Happy Holidays right back at ‘cha, union scum.
I am extremely proud of Michigan today. Maybe this will finally break the dam across the country.
Test ping.
LOL Christmas with the family will be a real treat this year.
YEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!
Bookmarked!
Dang, it would be dangerous for commies to do that in Texas. Crowder would have had some back up and we would be discussing the victims...poor wittle union protestors...dead, dead, dead. I would never go to a commie protest like this unarmed. They would be armed, too. Everyone knows they should not go too far or lots of bodies will drop.
A job well done.I hope you can get voter ID passed as well. That will keep the thugs from ever stealing another election again.Ps Go back to paper ballots.
