The student government at the University of California-Berkeley (CAL) passed a resolution last month that would ban Salvation Army bell ringers and their iconic red kettles from campus this Christmas because of the Christian organizations alleged bias against homosexuality.
UC Berkeley is "reviewing" whether or not they will prohibit the Salvation Army from operating on campus this Christmas, after students passed a resolution condemning the charity.
The resolution, cleared on November 14, accuses the charity of openly discriminating against gay individuals.
Salvation Army church services, including charity services, are available only to people who accept and abide by the Salvation Armys doctrine and discipline, which excludes homosexuality, reads the bill, SB 176.
In the resolution, the student body also demands school administrators revoke the Salvation Armys permit, which currently allows them to collect donations on the Berkeley campus.
Allowing the Salvation Army to collect donations on campus is a form of financial assistance that empowers the organization to spend the money it raises here in order to discriminate and advocate discrimination against queer people, it adds.

The SA will miss the $0.00 that Berkley students contribute.
Insanity on the march.
Right to practice religion?
No.
Right to assemble?
No.
Right to speech?
No.
Someday, these little leftist crybabies will finally get the God-free, communist utopia they want. Then, when they are standing in a bread line, wearing 5 year old shoes, and pants with patched knees, they’ll wonder why life is so horrible and wish that there was something that would give them hope of something better.
And that hope won’t be there for them. The USSR brought in communism and then tried to bury Christ, but they failed at both. These neo-bolsheviks are making sure that Christ is buried before they bring on the communism. They’re going to be a lot more miserable than their Russian fellow travellers.
Islamic Charities also only help Muslims. Do you think they’d be banned?
They ought to be playing with their own ding-a-lings.
These people call themselves “tolerant”
Is it time?
Someone please tell me it’s time.
BTW, his assertion that SA refuses Charitable Services to those who don’t meet a Christianity purity test is a lie. The local chapter in my city delivered 70 Thanksgiving baskets to those in need in my city from a list given to them by the department of Transitional Assistance. I get a similar list for our meals at the motels. No names. No sexual orientation. Just number of people in family. Same with their clothing and food bank.
I, on the other hand, made a resolution to put some cash in EVERY TIME I pass a Salvation Army bell ringer this Christmas season, and so far, have stuck to it. Sometimes it has only been a quarter, sometimes a handful of change or $1 bill. If I don’t have anything to give on the way into a store, I make sure to come out with something to put in the pail.
Smart move by the SA. I find nothing wrong with charities who won't give money to people who hate the things they stand for.
Thanks CAL, I just doubled my donation to SAL for this year.... plus all the $$$ I put in the kettle... what a bunch of putz’s the students are
Yes, Yes it is time to perform a Liberal Democrat approved late term abortion on all of the insane haters on the left.
just said this.
All conservatives now move out of the liberal hell holes, , uch places like MA, CA, VT, CT, NY,IL and move to states which need us like FL, VA, NC, NM, CO,
Lets make those states solid conservative and to hell with those socialist states.
The left have been moving like that to our states for decades and are trying very hard to make FL, VA, NC, AZ, CO solid socialist, to hell with them .
Let them have their socialist utopia up north and the west coast
Ban all muslim organizations from campus. They discriminate against my culture of eating bacon.
Hello? Is that the open minded and tolerant left again banning something? A charity of all things?
Well, clearly the stugent government at Bezerkly has nothing else more important on its calendar.
So, it should probably be dissolved.
