Just a slight correction. America didn’t do “Muskrat Love”...it was Captain and Tenille.

America did it also. From Wikipedia:

America recorded "Muskrat Love" for their 1973 album Hat Trick, marking the second time the band had recorded a song not written by a member of America.

Oh! That was excellent! Was the second guitarist playing a Dano Baritone? I’ve got one in Seafoam Green.

America's "A Horse With No Name" was arguably the biggest hit of 1972, but I've never understood its appeal. The melody consists of about five notes, and the lyrics make no sense.

Speaking of 1972, here are some of my favorite songs from that year:

Zydeco/Cajun: BeauSoleil band

WWII era Big Band music: Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Bob Crosby, the Andrew Sisters, etc.

Also Civil War era music. My favorite band is the 97th Regimental String Band.

I do believe you’re right about the Danelectro baritone.
It is a great video ... Just 2 days old.

My respect for Lawrence Welk just went up a bit. I noticed the guitarist in his band is wielding a Strat.

Yeah, no kidding! Nine days in the desert would be more than enough time for me to come up with a name for the horse.
