Mayor Bloomberg made an impromptu visit to the Rockaways this weekalthough he was predominantly there to discuss Sandy recovery efforts with local paper The Wave (and declare that the age of the wooden boardwalk is so over), Bloomberg also was confronted by some Occupy Sandy members. And for once, he had nothing but praise for them: "Thank you for everything you've done. You guys are great," Bloomberg told them, as you can see in the video below. "We really do appreciate it, all kidding aside. You really are making a difference. Goodbye," he said.

Bloomberg probably would have rather avoided any confrontations with protesters or Occupy people, but his helicopter touched down right behind Occupy Sandy's headquarters at the St. Camillus Church, according to DNAInfo. Residents were upset that Bloomberg didn't stick around to talk to locals: I feel like he could have answered a question," said Christine Donohue, whose home was destroyed in the storm. "If he could have at least acknowledged the questions. Just one...It's just like I was talking to the wall. It was rude. Help us please.
They wanted to try to talk to him, to have him hear what was going on," Jessica Roff, a Sandy organizer who has been volunteering since the day after the storm, explained to DNAInfo...

How heartwarming. It’s so kind of Bloomberg to take time away from his home in Bermuda to do things like this.
In the meantime, it’ll be really ugly
WHAT is occupy Sandy?
The “man” just absolutely doesn’t give a _____ for any of the “little people”. If you aren’t a member of his cocktail circuit of gazillionaires, you aren’t even considered a human by this micro-turd. He probably threw away the jacket the lady who hugged him had touched.
I don’t believe “Occupy Sandy” has anything to do with the Occupy movement. They just used the name because it is popular now. I heard several plugs and fundraisers on XM Liquid Metal station. Started by some bands there to raise money for the recovery.
Just what it sounds like: An off-shoot of the hippies, criminals, communists, leftards and anarchists at Occupy Wall Street, etc.
He is like a walking stereotype
Thanks 2ndDivisionVet.
If a revolution comes, Bloomberg will find himself swinging from an oak tree!

Those tax paying peasants are sure getting uppity with their betters now-a-days. Obviously, they were ill informed and not aware that Bloomberg is a deity and deserves the proper bowing and scraping from the lesser creatures. His simpering, sniveling and groveling entourage should have made this obvious before the arrival of the all high one.
In other words, these students are being prepared all along for a socialist mentality. This is Bloomberg, with his sanctuary city, his refusal to allow the National Guard to come and help after Hurricane Sandy 'cos they had GUNS and he didn't want anyone but the NYPD to bear arms in his city, and his absolute confidence that only HE knows best how large a soda you should have.
Meanwhile, I don't know where all the funds being given to feed the kids in the school cafeterias are going, as the food I see being served to them is mostly crap. High-sodium lunch meats on whole wheat bread, PB&J sandwiches, scrawny pieces of chicken, fish sticks wrapped up in a tortilla to constitute a "wrap", etc. There is salad available and some overcooked veggies, along with the lowest-grade fruit I've ever seen. Seems they buy the rejecto undersized fruits no one else wants. I wonder what's going on there.
I think he was in Bermuda when the thugs refused to snow plow making it impossible for the emergency service required by a pregnant woman. I think she later died in an attempt to make her way to a nearby hospital, through the snow storm, alone, on foot.
I think you’re right. And the press didn’t really point that out, nor why his deputy mayor was also outside of NYC. There was talk of his being president someday before that storm. I haven’t heard it afterwards, thankfully.
I dont believe Occupy Sandy has anything to do with the Occupy movement.
Yes it is. These are folks who were part of the Occupy Movement, but since the tragedy with Sandy, they decided to do something good for a change and give out services to people. It is pretty awesome of them. It is even nice to see wackos doing good things. Of Course Bloomburg could not take the time to say hello to people....have to ensure nobody is drinking a 21 ounce soda in NYC.
I would spit on him and turn my back. He deserves no respect. He is the lowest form of life.
Whoever Occupy Sandy are, they did great things during this disaster. They ran food kitchens and clothing distibutions. They were effective when the city govt was floundering inits response. Along with the Archdiocese of NY and the dioceses of B’klyn and Rockville Center they were godsends to the people whose lives were shattered by Sandy and the follow on nor’easter.
