From my wife's shrink: "Dear Patient, I will no longer be a Medicare provider" (vanity)
My wife's shrink | November 28, 2012 | Seizethecarp (vanity)

Dear Patient,

Going into the coming year, I have made a difficult but necessary determination that I will no longer be a Medicare provider. This will go into effect as of January 1, 2013. My decision is directly related to the continuing Medicare cuts and cumbersome requirements that Medicare has put into place. Regretfully, it is no longer feasible for us to participate with Medicare.

Just a thought, some medications can be purchased cheaply in Mexico with a prescription. You still in AZ?

I am still 62 and on LTD and I think MA is only available after you turn 65. But MA is advantageous for lots of folks because it is subsidized to some extent...which will be slashed under Obamacare in 2014, IIRC.

Thanks for the info. I do try to have camomile and lavender tea in the evening and it does help me go to sleep. But I can’t stay asleep. One of the bad thiings about fibromyalgia. Pain keeps you up and no sleep makes the pain worse. Not sure what I would do without my medications.

I’m surprised your wife was on Medicare at age 62. Medicare would usually be available at 65 and I’m not familiar with SSDI. That must be Soc Sec disability, right?

But you’re right about Medicare and Medicare Advantage in other circumstances - eligible at 65. We do expect changes to MA and what they will be is anyone’s guess. We’ll stay with the MA plan we have for 2013. We’ve received the benefits and directories for 2013 and not many changes so far, but that can and will change any time.

Wishing the best for you and your wife. Glad you’re in a place you’re both comfortable with. I’m sure you’ve both been through a lot and you have all our best wishes and prayers. Take care of one another!!!

I may be a while since I researched this because it appears that as of now only the early onset (before age 65) AD is autosomal-dominant. The late onset form is regarded to be sporadic, except that a high percentage of those people have a particular gene.

I'm glad you pointed this out as my wife’s mom had the late onset type.

You can't really draw conclusions from one family with the early onset type, though. If you flip a coin eight times you could get eight heads. So you could have eight kids and none of them get an autosomal dominant disease.

In my stepmother's family, she, her two sisters and her brother all have Alzheimer's, and her mom did...and it was NOT early onset. Go figure!

http://ghr.nlm.nih.gov/condition/alzheimer-disease

“How do people inherit Alzheimer disease?

“The early-onset form of Alzheimer disease is inherited in an autosomal dominant pattern, which means one copy of the altered gene in each cell is sufficient to cause the disorder. In most cases, an affected person inherits the altered gene from one affected parent.

“The inheritance pattern of late-onset Alzheimer disease is uncertain. People who inherit one copy of the APOE e4 allele have an increased chance of developing the disease; those who inherit two copies of the allele are at even greater risk. It is important to note that people with the APOE e4 allele inherit an increased risk of developing Alzheimer disease, not the disease itself. Not all people with Alzheimer disease have the e4 allele, and not all people who have the e4 allele will develop the disease.”

On the 'so called' egalitarian playing field; there will be only the able-bodied competing. Fortunate; for your wife; and fortunate timing. Many of course; still on the 'wheel' and it has not stopped yet; and soon; when it does; only another spin; in store.

Hope those who allowed Obama to win; 'get it'. Though; what now is the point. Too late smart, for them. And just plain too late; for many more; as we will all bear the consequences.

I really wish that we wrong about this too. However, we cannot deny reality.

Your doctor has a good point about politics though. There is only so much a person can do. In the end, the most important thing we can do is to take care of our family and those we love. How we live our lives and how we treat others are actions that we have complete control over.

My doctor up and retired earlier this year. He was going on 70 and said obamacare was the deciding factor.

I still have private insurance and was able to get another doctor in the same group, so I feel lucky for now.

Having balance is difficult, at least for me. I think we’re at a critical juncture right now, and the survival of the country depends on whether we have any leaders who will even step up to the plate. It’s not looking good.

Every time I see somebody analyzing why Romney lost, I cringe. There are some painful realities that our leaders have got to see and address if this country is going to continue, and nobody is addressing it. Basically, we are Egypt and Obama is Morsi. The Egyptians at least have the sense to resist. America has no leaders and even “conservative leaders” have not yet learned that the media is part of the enemy and has created a lawlessness within the system because there is no accountability as long as the stupidest voters can be kept ignorant. Pat Cadell had it absolutely right. But the people who need to know the real situation (the media threats, the lawlessness, the cover-ups in multiple local, state, and federal agencies, the foreign money to buy the White House, etc) are so dependent on media goodwill that they willingly close their ears and eyes and call the rest of us crazy. As long as that is the case, America is hopeless.

If somebody is going to step up they need to do it now. The window is closing fast. If they fail to step up America will go one of two directions: complete tyranny most probably leading to a sharia state, or another revolutionary war within America. With a nuclear Iran, and Al Qaeda surging in already-nuclear places like Pakistan - as a result of Benghazi and Obama’s ability to get away with taking over Ghadaffi’s weapons and giving them to terrorists right under America’s sleeping nose - it’s only a matter of time before the Islamists make their move to establish the worldwide caliphate, most probably through an EMP attack that destroys the world as we know it, followed by a full coup carried out by Hamas and Hezbollah sleeper cells that have infested the country while Eric Holder holds the door wide open for them.

The age of men is ending. The age of the orc is here. The resistance is leaderless and its communications have been sabotaged. I’ll do what I can even while the window is closing, but if we don’t find an Aragorn to help out us little Frodos and Sams, there is no way we can win this war and all that’s left is for us to hold our families together as best we can before we are executed for not accepting the mark of the beast. That’s where we’re at.

A stitch in time saves nine. I’ve been desperately hoping that my stitches are in time, but it may be too late. It may be time to recognize that the cloth is heading for the fire. Love people while we can, because that door is closing too.
